I also need 2 of the cyl lens pairs, please. I'll get an extra $80 in my paypal acct asap. That is, if we have decided that the cyl-lenses are the appropriate ones. I know that there is still banter around about which is best; convex or concave.. ? Hopefully this will get sorted soon

Would these cyl lenses be good for 445nm?

i have to agree lava lens are good , but an alternative is good to as it seems the lava lens
is not so easy to get these days with the good dr being so busy, even more so now he has a little one to take up more of his time
When God said “Let there be light” he surely must have meant perfectly coherent light.

they can be used, but they give the same results as lavas lenses but are less of a pain to setup.

So Dave's lenses are separate from the threaded lens holders, right? We glue them in. What kind of glue; special optics glue or 5-minute epoxy or .. ?

I'm really curious about this GB too but a little more information would help me commit. Using these optics I can stack 2 diodes sending them into a single set of the optics and a single diode lens? Or do I need 2 diode lenses? I'm confused as to how to use these optics to combine the output of two diodes into a single beam. The $100 figure doesn't seem to come from any combination of $15, $20, and $37 for the individual components.

    Thanks!
    Mike

You need 1 collimating optic per diode. Then it may be possible to combine 2 thru the cyl lenses, but I personally am not going that route. I'm going to use the dremel and running water approach (making 2 out of 1) for 1 cyl pair per diode.
