You get to work on the new laser at work, and it needs a galvo to start it....
A block of high index glass on a GM20 is wiggled to start the self modelocking in the Coherent Mira 900. It slightly changes the cavity path length.

There are 8 intracavity mirrors in the thing, and thats not counting the saturable adsorber, pump optics, prisms and gratings...

The manual is 100 pages.

So now I have to tune up a Mira, a Spitfire, a femtosecond OPO, a 515 nm Empower using Nd:YLF, and a Verdi...
