Thanks. i actualy want to set the final length of my show. how can i do that?

i mostly usr the rgbi event for my colours since it has more features. if you want a. constant colour, set all channels to expression and set both limit sliders of the expr window of each channel to the value you want.
i dont think i understand. RGBI event assigns a 3 color gradient. i only want 1 color. if i disable all colors except one, some areas of my shape becomes black.

btw, i cant understand the difference between post and pre events (postRGBI)

you can also use the color event, but this requires palettes which i hate.
    what color event?

You can set the final length of the show in the window where you can pick an audio file as the time source for the show. You can either double click in the black ribbon above the actual timeline, click the music note button, or go to Audio >> Setting... Here you can set the total length of the show. You can also choose another timecode, such as an audio file or variable speed for live shows. You can also create audio visualisation here. It has some features, so take your time to look what each button does.

The difference between pre and post is the order in which they get processed. The order on the timeline doesn't matter. If you place some animation event, then a PostRGBI under it, and then a PreMoveY, the PreMoveY will be evaluated before the RGBI even though it is under the PostRGBI event. This is a bit of a limitation, as sometimes you want some really complex processing to happen, which means you need to fool around with Rend2Frame and the like. If you look in Help >> Timeline help, there's a list with the event order.

I was referring to the "Color" event. It's the fourth one in the colour transform events row. It offsets the palette index. If you bring up the palette setup (the rainbow button), you see which palette is being used. Say your palette has four colours: red, green, blue and white (a bit limited, as you can't "mix" colours in a palette). Say you have an animation that uses these colours. If you use a Color event under it and set it to 2, then all red parts will turn blue (they jump two positions in the palette), green turns white, blue turns red and white turns green.

The reasons some parts of the image become black when using the RGBI event is because it is set to a default modulation effect. You need to set all channels to "Color depends on: constant", frequency to 0, phase to 0 and amplitude to the value you want. Alternatively, you can set them all to Expression, then click the Expression button and use the sliders/an expression for each channel.

I'm sure I remember reading something about this on PL but don't remember where or when it was posted. Might be worth a search if you are patient

I saw mention of using Google to search PL recently as it gives better results.

Is the lit point amount just point amount + blanking point amount, or is there more to it than that?

Is this about Ild Sos? I think that's more like total points - blanked points...

    yes ild sos.

Id also like to report a Realtime bug. The record to ilda button creates bad ilda files.
it cant be opened again with LSX, error "There is no room to in the Catalog!".
it crashes when trying to open in ild sos.
it crashes when trying to open with LFI player.
the only program i could get to open it is "ildaviewer by showtackle". when opened with this program it is revealed that the ilda duration has increased by a magnitude. A 3 minute show becomes 2 and half hours long ilda.

this is not a problem with my show, because i also tried recording a rtd file that just had 1 frame Animation event stretched to 3 minutes to ilda, and the frame just had a single circle i drew in quick picedit.
the result is again an ilda files which lsx, ild sos and all the other programs i try can't open, except showtackle ildaviewer and there it is again few hours long with 175414 frames for a 3 minute show.

to recreate the problem, just create a 10 second show with only a circle displayed the whole time. Record an ilda and open the ilda in realtime again. it will be 5 minyutes long.

interesting. i have not had problems recording ilda files and playing them back in quickshow or LD2k.

suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.

Hm... Most of the time ilda export works fine for me. But I had it fail at a crucial moment (of course, nothing ever goes wrong if there isn't a deadline). I had a five minute show resulting in a >2Gb ilda file...
I can only guess at what the problem was. I suppose the algorithm that determines the desired frames per second has a bug somewhere.

embedding frames per second into an ilda animation file is not that important.. is it even possible?

just load the file into your preferred laser show application and compress/shrink the duration of your ilda animation event until it is correct. i don't know if it's possible to compress ilda frame sequences, but even a simple frame to frame delta compress would make a huge difference.
