I want to use the preview window of LSX as input for video projectors. What will be the best way to do it?
I've tried rendering the preview window to an AVI file and viewing it with a video player in fullscreen with the projectors connected, the results were very good. But I want to be able to do it in realtime so I can both see the results as I'm editing as well as control the laser and video projector together in sync.

Your best bet here is to wait for a specific feature to be added to LSX. I'd bet that it shouldn't be a long wait. . .

I wonder if Camtasia might pick off the video, check into that.

I think you misunderstood. I don't want to record the video for future use (LSX can do it by itself) but send a region of the desktop to a video projector for realtime shows, or somehow extend my desktop with a Matrox device and send fullsize preview window with no window borders to a video projector.

Unrelated question: what does the latest beta update change? I didn't notice difference from 2013.

What beta do you have? The interface hasn't changed and there haven't been any major additions, but a lot of bugs are gone and there are a couple new features such as the ability to record ADAT wave files to ilda.

    Hi all,

I bought LSX and need to export a show to ILDA in order to upload it to my moncha.net dac. The show is only 4 minutes long, but the resulting ILDA is 12 gigabytes, way too large. So I tried setting up a news file, default length, 10 seconds and placed a new animation in it, nothing else. The animation is just a static cat source. When I export only this to ILDA the resulting file is 900Mb. I tried opening this file in ILD SOS to see the specs of the file, but ILD SOS crashes with a runtime exception error after loading for a while. Do others recognize this problem, and if so, is there any way to resolve this?

It has happened to me before but I don't know why or how it happens and how to fix it. Ilda export usually works but there appear to be some settings that bug it. Maybe try it with and without controller attached?

Ask Drlava for the newest beta: it should have an update for the ilda export.

I think I have the latest beta, he sent me one this week because of issues with my Moncha.net DAC (not solved unfortunately). It seems like LSX likes to spit out enormous amounts of frames, where other softwares are more regulated. My Moncha halts very often during laser shows and I suspect the DAC is overloaded with frames (the network lights blink like crazy). This is very dangerous since the beams then just point in one direction and the buttons in LSX do not work. Therefore LSX is currently totally unsuitable for live work for me, and I want to fire the laser shows via DMX directly from the Moncha. However that doesn't work as well .
I really, really like all the possibilities of the software, but now I feel like I bought a lemon because I totally cannot use it at the moment and I need to have some shows ready before february.

You've not bought a lemon, LSX is capable of great things there'll be some basic confusion. Can you set the frame/point rate it exports at somewhere?

I can make my LSX-relative produce hilariously large files if I export at fixed PPS and set it high by mistake

    Hi Frostypaw,

Good to hear that, I already hoped so, because feature- and possibility wise the program seems unbeatable (though it has a somewhat steep learning curve).
Regarding your suggestion: I have tried to find any options related to fps, but I cannot find it in the software. You can set a value for pointrate, but that did not make a difference. The manuals also don't mention anything about it.
