    I can’t see it quite right, but it also looks like a part of the beam is hitting the aluminum base plate before the 1st cylinder.

    its all daves stuff yes.

    its just reflections off the shiny aluminium its not actually hitting it

    You do know that dave has mounts which allow for diode centering extra for these short fl lens? Diode centering is pretty much a must for these diodes with the 2mm fl lens.
    Or make your own..

    Those are the same mounts I had the dual in at the LEM, there's a tiny amount of centering ability - more diode movement than retaining plate.. and I have had no problem getting a clean-as poss beam a few times in a row with them and the g71/2mm collimator combo.
    Maybe I have just been lucky (unusual!) but from what I have seen so far, the 2mm fl collimator seems less fussy about diode centering than the other (3mm?) short lens Dave supplied.

    I just assembled and pre aligned 8 of these in my adjustable mounts and the adjustment, rotation/centering, was pretty easy. The resulting beam geometry and power output is consistent.

    It’s quad time..
