Default The Global Rainbow comes to town. (Preston UK)

Just a few photo's of the laser rainbow that has been set up on Preston Docks.

Rob Stanwax also came over to have a look. He was planning to take some photo's as well but managed to leave all his CF cards at home.
Silly boy. Although he did have his video camera so not a total loss of recording this spectacle
He is coming back to have another look on Sunday hopefully with a card in his camera.

    Carl

Ps. The two white dots in the sky behind the lasers are the planets Jupiter and Venues.

Its very impressive to see though conditions were not ideal for it last night -ie too clear really. We need a nice damp evening with a touch of mist. Apparently one night it was running in the north east a heavy fog rolled in and the whole area lit up with a mulitcoloured glow. Dont suppose the beams went very far.
Well worth a trip if you are in the area. Take a walk around the marina and I dare say you will bump into Carl - I think hes living there this weekend - bugger!

Somehow Preston docks doesn't have the same allure as <insert any other place on earth with a bit of a sea view and a nice climate here>

Haha... Yes Rob, you're absolutely correct, I knew there was a redeeming feature in there somewhere

Looks pretty impressive though, is it purely static?

Its supposed to be Yes it is, as you get out over the far side there is an occasional wobble in a couple of the beams but thats to be expected as as you know as a tiny movement at source will always magnify over that distance.

The 7 beams are.....a big fat red clearly made up from an array which looks to be about 20-25mm at source, this comes out the top of the only laser that was not properly covered and is an Arctos RGB. Also exiting from this is the cyan beam which is fat but so tight and well aligned that even over the other side of the marina its blue and green components were still nailed. The orange is green and red mixed and is the weakest of the lot, the camera was struggling to see this. Then theres a gorgeous opsl yellow - sweeeet . DPSS Green, then the cyan relayed across the scaff from the Arctos, indigo was made from a different green and 445 mix to the cyan - which were not that well matched at source and were pretty much seperated over the far side, then finally a big beam of 445. All in all bloody great and Im so glad I got to see it - I was rather jealous of some of our European friends who saw it last year.
