Default Need help in buying a new laser show

Hi - hoping someone can help me decide on the best purple/blue + red laser show. I have a green/red twinkler type that people really like and had a purple/red grator type that was just OK so sold it.

Now want to but a better purple/blue + red/pink one but getting confused as to whether to get a dual lens model or mult colour single lens one / another twinkler type (use it for home parties, no commercial stuff). Ones I've shortlisted so far:

    Shinp DL- 22RP http://www.yourlaser.com/catalogsear...ult/?q=dl-22rp
    LV628RB http://www.yourlaser.com/dj-equipmen...d-dmx-lv628rb/
    FIT-S (RVP) http://www.cr-tec.hk/en/?c=main&a=pr...pro_id=114&t=4

Really appreciate some advice as to the best way to go (also, found cheapest ones at yourlaser.com but not sure if they're legit?)

Thanks again in advance as I really need to get this happening for my wife's party in 3 weeks

    I don't think you're buying shows.
You are buying cheap laser (effect) projectors.

    Twinkle away me ole Son.

Any Rinky Tinky Chinky projector will be sufficient for your needs but will probably last for only a couple of hours before the build up of heat melts the glue holding some important part together and it becomes inoperable.
As long as you buy bearing in mind that you are purchasing a disposable projector then you can't go worng.

    Hi,

Welcome to PL. One of the things you'll quickly discover is that the majority of people here will highly discourage you from any of these as there are numerous safety and reliability concerns with much of this cheaper import equipment. I don't know what part of the world you are from but, that might be useful information in assisting your answer. I have seen a number of these things up close and admit to having owned a few. Of the three you mentioned, I only am familiar with Shinp and CR-Tec brands and if you had to put a gun to my head and make me buy one, I'd opt for the CR-Tec. With what you are looking to do, I strongly suggest though, that you look at products from Chauvet and American DJ and perhaps up your budget just a little to get something that will provide a higher degree of safety and reliability. You're dealing with a light source with enormous amounts of concentrated power. Even small amounts, if caught by the eye just right, can cause maybe not immediate apparent eye damage but certainly affect it in the longer term. Sure, it looks cool and seems innocuous enough but, still... it's a laser. They do surgery with lasers - not tungsten bulbs, not LED's, not halogen. Lasers. Some of this mass produced stuff in foreign companies does not go through the degree of safety checks that products are made to go through elsewhere in the world. I'm certain you would feel terrrible if, God forbd, an accident occurred that accidentally hurt your wife or one of her friends. If you want something cool, that is safe, well made for what it is and gives a "wow" factor, look at a Chauvet Scorpion Storm MG. It's not purple/blue or red but, for a party such as you're describing, you should be very pleased. If it's something you want to make a larger investment in and do more with in the future, look at products from X-Laser. (Sites like "idjnow.com")

Thanks - just a newbie and yep all I'm after is a cheap laser (effect) projector - any advice on the ones I listed?

Another dub question - are these types safe to use at home (just read up on audience scanning and safety requirements - pretty scary and hope these ones don't fall into the same categor?)

Don't know if that was directed at sofe or me but, to answer your question. The build quality of the products from CR-Tec that I have seen are better than average from a chinese manufacturer. They are a top tier corporate member of ILDA (International Laser Display Association). I own two RGB projectors that have impressed a number of people who have had a chance to really look at them. No glue. Tri axis optics mounts, CNI diodes (including 473), key switches, interlocks, labels, emission indicators, etc. They were about $7,000 new. (I didn't buy them new!) There are still certain safety features they lack but, again, for what they are, they're pretty nice. Shinp is a mass marketer with flimsy aluminum, dichros often glued in place and non adjustable, missing screws, the occasional rattle inside the case, often no aperture window, things like that. They do what they do and, are a step above some of the other stuff but, all in all, not your best choice, now that you have taken the time to become a informed consumer.

I'm assuming that the OP just wants some twinkly twinkly lasers at a family gathering and have posted accordingly.
Perhaps in time he will get "into" lasers and want to do more with them but for now I think he just wants to "WOW" family and friends with something different.
No need for the Laser Police/Evangelists here.
No need for reams of posts about MPE, Variances etc.

Just plain ole Laser Luurve .....

Yep they do fall into the category.

The SHINP is 220mw total (claimed) and not a twinkle in sight from the photos which show 2 x fanned effect. So laser safety concerns there as each beam is potentially 100mw+.

The 2nd one, the LV628 appears to be a twinkle laser and whilst it is 200mw does claim to put out more than 500 beams. That being the case, in theory, this should be safer as 200/500 = power of 0.4 mw each. However that assumes the beams are split evenly which might not be the case. The effect will probably get boring.

The 3rd laser the CR-Tech, appears to be projecting normal patterns so this time you have 250mw claimed from the beam. So again safety concerns.

If you had to buy a laser purely on safety grounds I'd say the LV. However, either of the other 2 would be fine IF you could restrict the scans to overhead but that can be very difficult on lasers that run auto as they naturally scan to the full extent of their Y axis.
