Are there any Raspberry Pi experts out there?

I'd like to get one for myself and another one for my nephews to play with.

    What's the best deal?

What all do I need to get going in one order?

just copied a LED blink python script and used it as TTL, nothing fancy

There is so much stuff about it from so many different sources, I don't know where to start!

I guess I'd like to know if I can hook up a USB to SATA laptop HD and a USB 7.1 sound device..... for starters!

Also, do you compile natively on this thing or do you use a cross compiler?

Does anyone know if it is supported by libSDL?

Does it come with a kernel with the frame buffer enabled?

Hmmmmm. Dare I ask if anyone has ever tried to compile LaserBoy for this thing?

USB to SATA, Yes if you have external power supply for it
USB sound device, i guess yes, as long as there are drivers for the distro you use, and the USB device doesnt draw much power from USB your fine, but i can be wrong on this

    the rest is all IDK...

    forget USB sound devices

there's a SPI link there, and there are plenty of 16 bit serial DACs for cheap... much faster than audio drivers

OK. But do those DACs look like a modular sound device? Can I use the built in audio streaming stuff to push waves out?

suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.
