DanielS, looks like you are going to need a 3 phase 208VAC 35Amp (per phase) generator. Good luck :/

Thanks for all the info guys. No real way of using these things in the real world at home but im glad i saved it from the bin anyway. I know a few gas heads down here in london and they have been a great help already. Some of them are actualy doing shows with these lasers over the summer so my best bet would be to take my laser along to one of these (they have very kindly invited me to do so) .I am going yo take more pictures after the weekend and will post them tuesday/wednesday.
At least I know it works. I hope set up a beam table---one day :-(
And it does seem that I have the 400V->208V 3~ step down transformer as wellas the circulation pump/power supply but my photos will confirm this and thankyou again.
..and yes, pics pleez, we luv 'em.
If you can find access to a 400V/32A (CEEform) three phase connection somewhere, you'd be able to run it off the step down transformer. It may be able to hold out on 400V/16A, but I would not recommend it since that would overload the connection running flat out (running 18,2A per phase). A 25A or 32A connection will do fine.
If you only want to run an ion at home for the heck of it, try and find a smalller air cooled gas rig like an ALC-60x, ILT5400 series or Laser Physics Reliant. They will have single phase supplies and less hassle with cooling, just plug into the wall and throw the switch. Be prepared for one heck of an electrical bill though if you intend to make long runs.
Thanks Stoney this is looking more and more doable now..
Apologies for the above teaser, just fed up with the sharks and had a few beers when I posted originally.
BTW Didn't Jem have a compact Honda generator that did 3 phase? Don't know what model but I seem to remember everyone saying how small and compact it was.
Would be a real shame if the OP couldn't find a way of running it at home.
There must be some generators out there with more than 1 16A output.
NO, Jem had a single phase Pure sinewave generator not a 3 phase generator. 3 phase generators are usually large!
Just because a generator has 3x 16A outlets that dosen't mean to say it's 3 phase. Unless it's a 3phase generator it ain't gonna produce 3 phase electricity!
A 3 phase generator big enough to run that would be huge!

Ahh ok. I knew he had a small generator that you guys had used for some outside action and I thought it was a 3 phase.
Doesn't sound very hopeful for the OP running it at home then.![]()
