Default Wanted: 475 to 490nm light source

    Hi all

As title really, I'm looking for a light source between 475nm and 490nm. It doesn't have to be coherent as long as it's within this narrow band.

It's for use as a safelight for some holography film.

    Any suggestions???

    Thanks

    Jem

Not sure I fancy your chances of getting your hands on one for a reasonable price but Nichia have a solution:

    EDIT: Forget that £5,634!!!

Cree has some blue LEDs that are centered at 475nm, if that's not too low.

Go over to fleabay, find seller bjomejag and look at the Omega Optical overstock dichros.

    Should fit the bill.

Tilt tune it a bit for your band, wavelength varies slightly as the cosine of the angle on a bandpass like that.

Then pray I can get this 8 mirror cavity I'm working on to lase... Which is why I'm up so late...

    Good Luck,.,,

If you're using it as a safelight to light up your workpiece and see what you're doing, wouldn't a normal light bulb or spot with a narrow-band filter gel be good enough? I do think the big manufacturers (e.g. LEE) have the proper cyan band-pass filter in stock.

The narrow band filters are pretty damn expensive. I've bought the one Steve suggested, it should be fine :-)

    Thanks for the suggestion though.

    Cheers
