I'm sure using the power feed to a projector as an e-stop does not meet the regulations but is NOT the way to do it, the scanners have a nasty habit of stopping dead while the lasers contiune to run allowing a powerful beam to end up pointing, albeit for a short time, in some unknown direction outside of any attenuation map or defined projection zone. This is a BAD BAD practice and certainly should not be recommended by a manufacturer. Many projectors - and not just cheap ones - that have built in sound to light or DMX controlled content do not use the ILDA interlock correctly. Im not saying its the case with this as I cant see if it has built in patterns or not, but the method of implementing the internal patterns means that such a projector, in terms of the interlocks, does not meet ILDA standard.

I think I made it pretty clear I did not know if this was the case with this machine, and was merely indicating that many that state they meet the ILDA standard do not. Maybe you saw it to be a dig at other products from your company, I cannot help your interpretation of my words. I never once suggested that I know you projectors better than you.
And I can assure you I use ILDA correctly as per the defined standard - I think that many projectors in the market place cannot make that claim.

To help answer the original poster’s question…

Leaving ILDA standards aside, which have no legal bearing.

Class 4 Laser Product and no Start Button = Not EN 60825-1:2007 compliant.

Not EN 60825-1:2007 compliant = Not CE compliant

Not CE compliant = illegal to supply or use within the EU.

    Simples.

If the manufacturer does not include the legal minimum safety features required for CE purposes, ask them to include them if you still want the product.

How a manufacturer reacts to such a situation speaks volumes.

..a 'vacuous' reply from the vakuum, indeed.. ..sales based on 'Danger sticker-maximums', just.. well, 'sucks', and so does getting all TO'd and 'taking ones football and going home', vs supplying a potential customer with satisfying answers to his legitimate questions / concerns.. Nice to see good build-quality, but.. this 'marketing watts' BS needs to go straight to the garbage can.. imho.
