    Default Mitsubishi P73

Wow I had posed a question in the p71 thread about if these were more stable. Today I swapped the diodes 71's out for 73's cranked the current up to 800ma. With the p71's I was loosing power fast now that the ambient temp has raised to 80, it went from 900mw out to in the 400's within minutes. Tonight at the same ambient I have had these running for about a half hour at 800ma and am still getting a solid 1.054W out of them after the optics, lens, cube, lens.

There was not a big loss with the correction lens, it was my error i dropped the bias and this lowered drive.

Building a basic TEC pelt for it right now then will test how much it can be pushed.

That IS very interesting !!! And would suggest that for the cycle demands of our projectors...the P73 would be prefered !!! BUT...What about the beam divergence...and over all beam quality ??????????????????????? I am extremely interested in this !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PB....this is only the second thread I have seen where the new P73's are used !!!!!!!!!!! What optics...Lava's 3X or 6X ???????????
    Divergence ??????? Nearfield geometry ???

    Quite the " Curious George " I am !!!
    Post many pics...PLEASE !!

Stabillity is very important !!! But I also want to know how good does it look !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    THANX,BEAM

This is using Lava's lens, never heard if any more from the GB were available. no response

Anyhow the 71's looked abit better. I have one top wing I have to still adjust out on this one. I left the lens in the same positions as they were with the 71's might need some adjusting. I was basically checking stability and power as this is for a beam rail that will have scanners but not #1 priority.

For just ball park i'll get a spot size comparison pic to my thumb between the 2 @ 25', that is all i have from the first build with the 71's give me a couple minutes.

I just took a bunch of pics comparing it to a dual 3w 445, that is only corrected with o-like lens. The P73's corrected are a better beam than it, but sadly the memory stick just shattered when I put it in my PC. Gonna have to pull it apart and try to pick out the plastic and get a read on it later. Pics will follow. The red starts thicker but has much less divergence and ends smaller than the not corrected 445.

    More later

Sounds perfect for a beam table.

suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.

Yea they are only a little bit more powerful but they are way more stable.

Some one must have more details on the 73
By now? Just curious as to how much worse the beam is
Compaired to the 71 when corrected
I want to find out before buying some

Stuck with just my iphone camera still it is useless for beam shots. But this is it with a little tec cooling added to the base plate. holding steady at 1w after optics, even after an hour with 80 degree ambient.

Correct dual with p73's. I started at 1A, and just kept bringing it down till it was stable, after cool off times. Guessing it to be around 700~800 right now but will measure it later.
