    Looking at the initial un-corrected beam spec and the orange ish colour at the start, they look like Mitsu G71 diodes.

    In the last photo they look like 660nm, maybe Andy is having a laugh here.

    Can you really tell the difference between 637 and 638nm in real life, let alone from a photo (which may interpret it differently anyway)?

    You are using Bonetti's defense against me, ah?

    I thought it fitting, considering the rocky terrain.

    not work?

    i like to do all tests my self and come to my own conclusions. its a very simple setup which is good but you dont get perfect beams granted.

    you can only focus one diode properly withthe correction optics as they are different distances away. but use the middle one to be focused then the other two are roughly the same size (slightly bigger) but as you can see from the photos the results arent to bad.

    yes daves 2mm FL lens and dr lavas correction optics.

    Of course not, "un-corrected beam spec AND the orange ish colour" is what brought me to that conclusion.

    using the 300mw 638 diodes
    Is that the G71 diode?

    as above, between Flecom and I, we had those pegged at 635-637nm, certainly shorter than the previous 638 (63133) diodes.

    ML520G71 as in this http://www.photonlexicon.com/forums/...lashlight-Fail

    By the way, I have some great prices now for these diodes.

    Yep, thats the G71, and yes they have them down as 638nm (632 to 644 possible range). Not sure why I hadthese down as shorter all this time, dunce I guess

    the diodes were purchased off ebay from rayfoss, so they are just standard diodes
