Warning if U read pre-sixties literature !

Careful those are "new" pence, ye olde ones were 240 to the £ (just to confuse the foreigners) and also 252 to the Guinea (often used for horse trading) I kid U not!.
There were 12 of these to a shilling and 30 of them in "Half a crown"
5 bob were 60 of them and a farthing was a quarter of these old pence, half was called a ha'penny!
In small quantities they were called pennies.

From all this I am sure that U can deduce that a "Penny-Farthing" is a bicycle with a large front wheel, a small rear wheel and extremely dodgy steering !
