    Karl,

I wanted the book out off my bookshelf because I didn’t feel comfortable with the name written on the spine. None of the lasers I owned at the time had LMR written on them, nor were they crafted by LMR. So no, the logic is not flawed. But we all have different opinions on this emotive subject.

Moving forward, if LMR is in the clear, then it would be fitting for ILDA to reinstate the pages and references on their website relating to his career achievement award, that were removed nearly two years ago, where his name still remains absent today.

Better still, it would be great for LMR to attend the forthcoming ILDA conference in the San Antonio, and be welcomed back into the fold.

I’ve met LMR several times, and by his own admission he has said that he is not permitted entry into the US. If this is still the case, I guess he would have to go to the next ILDA event in Europe.

Laser (the acronym derived from Light Amplification by Stimulated Emissions of Radiation) is a spectacular manifestation of this process. It is a source which emits a kind of light of unrivaled purity and intensity not found in any of the previously known sources of radiation. - Lasers & Non-Linear Optics, B.B. Laud.

While the video is from 2008, Dr. Thomas C. Altman published a book, "The Total Laser Book" in 1998 that describes the same effects shown in the video (page 42). I beleve that the book is out of print, but it should be possible to contact Dr. Altman. I believe that he now teaches HS Physics. Nice guy - I spoke with him many years ago and he was very helpful.

You are correct, but EVEN that is prior art... I have not checked my old laser handbooks yet.. That was even LPF and youtube can prove prior art link... (not my video)

Have you ever used two diffraction gratings one after another, for a laser effect?
Here you go, even more "prior art". From a projector designed around the early 90's, maybe even the 80's. Rotating diffraction along with a fixed diffraction. Someone had better hurry up and build a projector with 500 gratings stacked together, before someone patents that idea...

Never knew that about LMR. He helped me align my first HeNe from scratch over the phone. The way I see it, you are innocent until proven guilty in court.

I just checked the patent server. One guy filing a application for 40 to 60K XY scanning software as "A Concept" and its use as a laser display, and another trying to patent the 2 mirror sound activated spinning motor spirograph.

The first one is gibberish, but if granted, would effectively zap all of us to pay royalties for doing laser graphics to his university. He's using the ILDA test pattern and a freeware "DOVE" frame as part of his arguements. I can see the immediate challenge from one big show software company the INSTANT the first one is granted. Hopefully some one files the patent version of a Amicus Curae/Interested Party/Friend Of brief and quashes it.
