Multi-mode?

I have a projector in the shop. On power up ( no card inside) the red laser stays on until the DAC is plugged in and works fine. 650nm 300mw w/ttl. Suggestions?

depends on the driver, some have an option to set it to be usually off, if not you could tie the signal input to ground with a small resistor, then it will stay off even with no cable connected. To get more help its better to show a photo of inside the unit in question.

I agree, try pulling the TTL line to ground. I would start at about 4.7k.
