Default Blast from the Past - Argon Soup

Here are some of us old farts at the 1988 Olympics in Seoul with an arsenal of SP171's. (This was pre-YAG.) The late Fred Fenning is far right. I am next to him. It was Image Engineering's gig with equipment and personnel from IEC, Laser Rays, Laser Media Rentals and Showlasers.

The name doesn't ring a bell - but that was a lot of brain cells ago.

suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.

haha the black 171 is MINE! and I think we also supplied one or two other 171's...Good times, I have a great pic of photonbeam eating squid jerky. Im not in that pic but my partner John is (other side of steve). Oh man, i have some great stories on that gig. That is the gig steve introduced me to BoB (church of the subgenius) and sakki. That many companies coming together to do a gig in those days was wild. wow...where to start...

we had 8 171's at that location and two at another location. Keeping 8 171's running was a challenge. Water was supplied by water trucks rotating entire time while on site. One day a wind / rain storm blew in and the huge screen was going to tear the guide wires at the bottom, JC grabbed the bottom of the screen right as they broke. Picked him up and threw him like a rag doll in the air, I would guess 20 or so feet through the geo dome and he landed behind the stage on a set of stairs and we took him to the hospital a couple of cracked ribs if i remember correctly...he was on site next day...the show must go on....

shortly after that gig...i started dumping my 171's on the market...people were like WTF??? I was working on the YAGs at that time...introduced YAGS in 91...haha like a big chess game.

O Shit... I just realized that no one owned a cell phone and a video camera rested on your shoulder!
