Default yes another rgb build thread!!

finally got around to starting a micro rgb projector, had the bits kicking around for months now just no time to start
this is the first of twins as i have enough parts for two.
first up is the case thanks to fellow member for selling me two of these .
the build area is only 180mm wide x 240mm deep x 90mm high , here's a couple of pics with a ciggie pack to give an idea of size

    the power suppy a high powered +-24v supply thats only 100mm x 100mm x 35mm
    to run scan set, also
off that i will run two dc-dc converters , one gives 5v @ 12a for all the lasers.
the other gives 12v @ 4a for the tec cooling via a die4chill
the power supply also has built in output to run cooling fans

    the lasers are 1x 500mw lasever 532nm doing around 600mw 1x 445nm set to 800mw 1x mitsu 300mw 638 being run at 600mw but
nice and cold and sealed . diode drivers for red and blue are a couple of die4drives,

i am aiming at around 1.5w output with a nice white with this build and around 2w with the second by adding an extra red or using
a single p73 red diode pushed to 1w

the lasers and scanset(pt40's) are all mounted on a 5mm plate that slides out for maintainence, as there going to be no access to diodes an mirror mounts
when power suppy and drivers are mounted above the lasers .
thats the story so far will update with more pics as i get bits done

Nice. Please keep this thread updated with pics.

I like the idea of an inbuilt Mayfair smoke machine.

hi dave the dc dc converters come from here http://www.digikey.co.uk/product-det...199-ND/2270357
    power supply from here http://connexelectronic.com/index.php/cPath/25
and both talked about here http://www.photonlexicon.com/forums/...t=power+supply

Curious what kind of loss do you see in power when going through your correction lens. Just surprised you can sustain a 600mw output even chilled.

Also the dc-dc converters for the 5v it states a minimum input of 36v. Your going across the +/- rai
S for input and not common ground using the 24v supply ? What am I missing early here so maybe my eyes are stil shut.

yes i use +- rail for 48v on the input of the dc dc converters.
losses on lava len set are very little and can get 600mw cw , but rarly gets to that when modulated, so maintaining it is not a problem

That makes sense on both counts. My build requires full on no duty cycles since there is no modulation on a beam table. All this testing for continuous use I forgot most are not under that demand.

That is one nice small build you have started.

Wish I could help you with the mrad on the p73 but not sure how to even begin to calculate it.

hi all a little update ,
got a weekends building done nearly ready to run, just the driver for the green left to fit, and make up the outer case
i am happy how the power supplies turned out, but had to build a little wind tunnel to keep the dc-dc converters cool
as they are very small and have to power the the tec cooling and the all lasersClick image for larger version.
