    Randy;

I'd appreciate it if you'd be willing to help coordinate things in the Auditorium. Now that I know you're going to be there for the duration, you can bet your ass I'll put you to work!

One thing: I have not received any formal "show listing" from anyone yet. So I don't know what shows will be playing in the auditorium. Perhaps Brad, Frank, and John can get together via PM and work out something between the three of them, but I'd like to have a rough schedule to post so people will know what is going on at what times. Also, Bill Benner said that he'd like to do his Pangolin presentation around 3 PM Saturday afternoon, so we need to plan accordingly. Likewise, I know that Greg Southerland is planning a Lumia demo of some kind, so we need to fit that into the schedule too.

Randy, if you get a chance this week, let's talk on the phone about all this.

    Brad:

Your projectors may end up in the Auditorium if Aaron can't get enough for the special beam shows he's planning tro bring. Otherwise, they will be in the cafeteria. How many controllers are you bringing?

Sounds like a show schedule sub-thread would be in order (I can start when I'm not depending on my iPad for connectivity!)

Do you already have a specific list of who is bringing what, and who is in charge of what in the auditorium?

I don't have an equipment list yet, no. Not 100% sure it's needed though, since apart from a few projectors which have already been identified, everything else will be in the Cafeteria.

The only job that is 100% confirmed so far is sound. Mario (Ragdoll) has agreed to set up the systems in the auditorium and cafeteria. Brad (Massivesound) has volunteered to assist him.

Greg was talking about printing some name tags, as soon as I have a completed list (which won't be until next tuesday).

No one has volunteered to be in "charge" of the auditorium. Aaron was talking about helping out, but he's not sure he's going yet. So the position is open right now, if you're willing...

No problem - I got it!

I'll start a separate sub-thread for show scheduling.

    Additional questions for the auditorium:

    • Who specifically is already providing what projectors and controllers (hoping we can get left / center / right beams, in addition to DZ's rig )?
    • Are required projector stands going to be available?
    • Is anyone providing required LAN cables, hubs, etc. (assuming / recommending we keep it a simple "show-control" LAN)?
    • Who is planning to provide fog machines?
    • Is ALL sound gear going to be provided, including an audio mixer, all cables, etc.?
    • Are the presentations (Pangolin, etc.) going to be in the auditorium, or class room?

    If needed, I can provide (2) QM2000 ~ (1) .NET, and (1) in a micro-PC.
I can provide other gear as well - just need to get an idea of who has already "comitted" to what.

    Danke!!

    SELEM Auditorium Show List

If you are planning to run shows in the auditorium, please chime in!!

For now, we don't necessarily need a detailed listing, but would like to get a rough idea of total run time for your shows, what type of controller you'll using, any special requirements / arrangements that need to be made to run the shows, and any preference for a particular "block" time you would like to run the shows.

I suggest we plan on using the mid-to-late mornings as prep time as needed to setup zones, target bounce mirrors, etc., with the afternoons and evenings for the shows.

I'll consolidate here as folks respond.

    Randy (Stuka)

    • All my shows are Pangolin QM/LD2000
    • Hour (+) of primarily classic rock - several Mike Dunn shows with plenty of Pink Floyd
    • (Hopefully) 2 or 3 shows "modded" to use graphics, beams, and targeted beams
    • No time preference - but also not interested in putting in 14-hour days any more!!

    Brad (Bradfo69)

    • Hours of available material!
    • ADAT, Moncha, Pangolin...

Odd; I replied to this thread yesterday, but my post is gone...

    Guess I'll do it again!

Great! See if you can add in the schedules for the presentations too. Right now all we have is Bill's Pangolin presentation, but Greg (displaser) wanted to do an intro to Lumia presentation, and Mario and Frank were thinking about putting on a DMX primer... Also, if there is enough interest, I could do a short scanner-tuning demo...
    Additional questions for the auditorium:
Who specifically is already providing what projectors and controllers (hoping we can get left / center / right beams, in addition to DZ's rig )?
Need to speak with Aaron about this. He was planning to bring a pair of Kvant spectrum 1 watt RGB's to use as the left and right beam projectors for the Auditorium. In fact, he had talked about bringing some extra projectors as well, to go along with some special versions of popular Pangolin shows that had been modified to support extra projectors. But I haven't heard anything from him in a couple weeks. Aaron?
Are required projector stands going to be available?
I planned to set up two of my tripod stands with plates to mount the beam projectors. (I have a total of 5 of those tripods if we need more.)
Is anyone providing required LAN cables, hubs, etc. (assuming / recommending we keep it a simple "show-control" LAN)?
I will have a 4 port router and an 8 port switch. That should be enough for what we will have in the Auditorium. I won't have any Ethernet cable though. Need to check with Frank, as he was in charge of networking last time. He may have more gear and cable he can bring (if needed).
Who is planning to provide fog machines?
Jeff (rgb-gas) will be bringing a DF-50 hazer for the auditorium. I will have two large fog machines (slightly larger than my old Antari unit) with me as well. It would probably be nice to have one or two spares though.
Is ALL sound gear going to be provided, including an audio mixer, all cables, etc.?
Mario is bringing two separate sound systems and two mixers. I don't know what other cables he will have though. I will have my collection of cable of course, but I suggest that anyone who will need to tie into the sound system should plan on bringing at least a 20 ft cable to do so...
Are the presentations (Pangolin, etc.) going to be in the auditorium, or class room?
The plan is to have them in the upstairs classroom. However, Bill has hinted at one demonstration that might end up being moved into the Auditorium. If it happens, it will be something very special, and will only be after the rest of his normal Pangolin presentation. I can't say more about this right now, as it's still very much in the planning stage. For now, let's plan on having the presentations in the classroom. (We also have the stage area behind the curtain, as well as the backstage and lobby areas available to us.)
    If needed, I can provide (2) QM2000 ~ (1) .NET, and (1) in a micro-PC.
I can provide other gear as well - just need to get an idea of who has already "comitted" to what.
I think the more gear we have, the better. I'm planning to bring just about everything I own (as always).

Well... hadn't thought about that. Inventory consists of:

    4 QM2000's
    4 FB3's
    2 Moncha 2.1 DAC's
    3 Audiolase scdacs
    1 "James Lehman built" scdac
    HD24
    2 ADAT's
    NetLase box w/ Phoenix4 Pro+

I don't know that I'm bringing all that but, if I know we need something I can certainly put it in the car.

    SELEM Auditorium Equipment List

If you are bringing any gear to be used specifically for the auditorium, please chime in, and I'll start consolidating here.

    Here' what we're looking for:

    • Any projectors you plan to use in the auditorium
    • Any controllers you plan to use in the auditorium
    • Any other gear - smoke machines, sound equipment & cables, etc - for use in the auditorium
    • Any LAN equipment and cables you plan to use in the auditorium

Also, I plan to implement fixed IP addresses for the LAN gear (NO router, NO Internet on the "control" LAN), so please let me know how many IP addresses you'll need. If you need a pre-assigned IP address in the 192.168.1.xxx subnet (QM.net controllers, "keyboardless" PC's, etc.) please let me know.

If you are providing a projector on stage and plan to connect with a long ILDA cable, make sure you have one that is long enough to stretch from the stage to the "control area" in the back of the auditorium where DZ's rig will be set up. I hope to have a network switch / hub in the control area and on stage, with the intent of minimizing the requirement for long ILDA cable runs.

Make sure you bring any extension cords you think you might need!!

    Thanks!

    Randy (Stuka)
    (1) QM.net, and (1) QM in a remote PC (3 IP's needed; reserving .150 and .151)
    (1) 1-watt green projector for "supplemental beams"
    DZ Custom 3-way ILDA splitter
    Fog machine
    Bounce mirror truss
    Extra bounce mirrors, stands
