I would prefer to do it in a classroom since I can use a projector if I can get my act together. =) I love keynote. Now to get off this 2.5 hour conference call and start banging out an outline....

I wil have a projector there.No need to do the Best Buy dash again this year!
LOL... I had forgotten about that. Swell. Thanks Brad!
Not that its a contest, but I've got all of you beat... My last product report was definitely 180+ pages and as I write this my other screen is filled with a SHOW REPORT, a bloody show report, that is 80 pages. I must have lost my freaking mind.
No, I said that it runs 37 pages PLUS additional info. The guide is 33 pages, and then there are several pages of pictures and block diagrams. That's the original 37. Then there's a cop of the user's manual. Then other supporting documents after that in the appendices. 50 pages is a decent number, but as Dan said, some of them get a lot bigger. (Though I think Dan really has lost his mind if a mere show report topped 80 pages. Holy crap!)

Hey everyone;
I just got off the phone with the new venue manager at the Newton-Conover Auditorium. They hired Olivia, who was Reggie's part-time assistant last spring. So that's cool, because she knows us and trusts us! (Translation, we haven't lost our "in" with the venue.)
Now the bad news. Olivia admits that she screwed up big time, and called me pleading for some help. It seems she double-booked the venue! Yes, she knows that we have been there for 6 years, and she doesn't want to piss us off, but there is an artist group that has planned a short (2 hour) reception in the lobby area for Friday night from 6 PM until 8 PM, and she wanted to know if there was any way we could work around this.
We normally don't have very much going on in the lobby (it's mostly an area for us to relax and talk amongst ourselves), but I do know that a few people were planning to set up some lumia displays in there this year, and in past years the buy-and-sell tables have usually spilled out into the lobby a little. So it would be an inconvenience, but not a large one.
Anyway, in the interest of staying in the good graces of the venue (and hopefully getting a discount on next year's rates), I agreed that we could keep our equipment out of the lobby on Friday from 6 PM until 8 PM. I did remind her that we would have shows going on in the auditorium during that time, and that we would have people moving back and fourth between the backstage areas and the auditorium, but she didn't think that would be an issue.
So we're basically saving Olivia's bacon here, because this other group has already sent out printed invitations and such, so it would be a huge embarrassment if they had to cancel. And while it's partly Olivia's fault, it's also the fault of this artist group, and they know that now. I just figured it would be the right thing to do, especially if we get something good out of it for the future.
I don't see this as being a huge deal-breaker for us. Most people will probably be busy setting things up in the cafeteria during that time anyway, and the rest will be in the Auditorium watching shows. So I think we'll be OK. And the venue will really, *REALLY* appreciate this from us.
Note that this only affects the lobby area. (The venue actually calls it the "gallery"; it's the space outside the auditorium with the baby grand piano where we usually have tables set up to eat... They always have a bunch of pictures hanging up on the walls in there.) We still have full-run of the rest of the venue, including the cafeteria, the auditorium, and all the back stage and dressing room areas. Also, it's only for 2 hours, and only on Friday evening.
Anyway, that's the scoop. Just wanted to let everyone know in advance. If this is going to cause a big problem for anyone, please PM me and we will work something out. But honestly, I think we can easily handle this little inconvenience, especially if it keeps us in the good graces of everyone at the venue.

Let's just make sure we do a GOOD job with covering up the smoke detectors! Is platinum going to be there to climb the ladder in the auditorium? ('Cause I sure ain't tall enough! LOL)
Looking into putting it in test mode AND calling the monitoring company, just in case! But yeah, we will be OK...
