We can use the giant ladder to climb up to the balcony in the auditorium.
You can exit the Auditorium in the back, go up to the balcony, and from there you can get to the second floor via the door on the left. That hallway leads to the classroom. Or, if you are coming from the backstage / dressing room hallway, you can take the elevator right at the end of the hall. True, you have to enter the lobby to do this, but you are in the corner and way out of the way. Finally, the stairs to the classroom are only about 15 ft futher along the wall (just in front of where the piano sits), so even if you take the stairs, you're still not walking down into the middle of the lobby, which is where everyone will be. I don't see that being a problem.
Besides, I already told Olivia that we might have people who would need to move through that area during the reception, and she agreed that it would be OK so long as we weren't overly disruptive. (Us? Disruptive? Never!) I also explained that there would be shows playing in the auditorium, and that I couldn't do anything about the sound of the music filtering through the walls of the auditorium. She understood that as well. (I suppose we could be nice and not turn it up to 11 until after they leave though...)
But honestly, I don't see it being a big deal. Dan's presentation will start before the Art gallery thing does, so most people will be up there already. When he's done, it will be close to 8 PM, so they should be finished anyway. But yeah, if we need to cut through there, we do it. We booked the place first, and we are doing the venue (and those artists) a HUGE favor by agreeing to keep our equipment out of that space on Friday. So I don't feel bad at all about having to cut through there a few times. Just be quick and discrete and it will be fine.

PS: If anyone feels the need to climb that giant ladder, just make sure you've signed your liability waiver already. Might want to make sure your life insurance premiums are all paid up too. (That ladder scares the hell out of me!)
