I will not have any equipment in the auditorium except maybe ADAT machines for my shows if there isnt a setup there already

it would be nice to check out the digisynth content but at the same time not really, just going to make me sad I can't afford it

I completely agree, Gary. I've got a large pad of sticky notes (2 ft by 3 ft!) that I plan to post on the walls around the venue. When we have a firm schedule, (like "Digisynth: Laser Green Day" - 40 min, 11 AM to 11:40 AM") we will write it down and post it for all to see. (That's why we need run-lengths for every show.)

Also, people need to keep in mind that we will need a few minutes in-between show packages to allow for equipment swaps.
It would also be nice if the auditorium door was kept closed while music is being played, too. It's pretty annoying when you are watching a show and some decides to open the door wide open and stand there to look around.
Good point. Someone remind me to post a sign on the side door to the auditorium so it stays shut. It's OK to enter the auditorium from the back, but when you go in from the side, it lets in way too much light, and it also lets the fog roll out into the hallway, which sets off the fire alarm.

His stuff will all be in the cafeteria this year. Also, I believe the DMX presentation that Mario and Frank have planned will also take place in the cafeteria. Finally, Frank will have some cool new DMX lighting fixtures to show off this year, and they'll be in the cafeteria as well.

The reason we decided to keep the beam rails out of the Auditorium this year is that they tend to distract from the main show unless they are pre-choreographed. True, Frank has a couple shows that he has modified with extra DMX track effects, and those look great, but for the vast majority of shows that will be running in the Auditorium, this has not been done.

Now, someone could just play along "live" with a show (using a DMX lighting console) to use his DMX beam rails, but we've already decided to move the "live" portion of the event to the cafeteria. So in keeping with the theme of "pre-recorded shows in the Auditorium, Live shows in the Cafeteria", we will have all the live gear (including beam rails) set up in the cafeteria. (Mario will have his DJ station in there too.) Note that we will probably run some of Frank's shows in the cafeteria though. (The ones that have the DMX tracks for the beam rails.)

So I know dz will have the two heads projecting forward. Has the rest of the configuration been confirmed and what is it?

So far we have ADAT and qm2000 any other DACs to support.

We will have 5 beam projectors. Three of them will be ~ 1 watt RGB's (Aaron is bringing these), and two of them will be 1.7 watt RGB's from Brad. All will be using 445 nm blue, so they should match up pretty well.

The plan is to have two projectors on each side (that is, 2 left and 2 right), with the 5th projector in the center on the stage floor. All beams will be directed up towards the balcony area so that the audience area will be clear and eye-safe. I will bring tripods for the left and right projectors. Might end up only using 2 tripods (instead of 4) and mounting the second projector half-way down the pole or something... We will have to see what Aaron decides. (He set up the show zones for the 5 projector shows.)

Aaron is bringing 5 QM boards with him to run the beam projectors. DZ has two QM's in his computer to feed his dual-head projector. So we shouldn't need any more Pangolin gear in there unless someone has a graphics show that they want to run on DZ's projector that is tied to a specific QM board. (In that case, that person will need to connect their own PC to DZ's projector and run through the color palette wizard. I suggest anyone in this situation do this early, on Thursday during setup if possible.)

I think Brad and Frank both have some graphics shows that can be played from a sound card DAC.?. Perhaps they can comment further.

Also, there might be one or two people present who are running the Ryia DAC. If anyone else has a show they want to run in the Auditorium, they will need to bring their computer and DAC in there to hook up to the graphics projector, and get with DZ to make sure everything is kosher. (Please reply in this thread, or send a PM to Jon or Brad about it.)

But right now the only people who have come forward with show material are either running the QM-2000, or ADAT, or a sound card DAC.

Note that in the cafeteria, we will have all sorts of DACs in use, but that's a whole different story.

Gabe's stuff is done with Moncha 2.1 and I have the DAC's for that. Basically it's exactly the same as an FB3, just a slightly larger box. It's only going to take about 90 seconds to swap it in. As far as I'm concerned, they can be played in either the auditorium or the cafeteria. It's all beam shows I believe.

Now.... and this is kinda important. Unless I'm missing something (which is entirely possible), nearly all the full length stuff we have been talking about playing in the auditorium is graphic/abstract shows. As far as I know, there is very little to nothing that already incorporates beams. Polishedball may have some mixed stuff or, can elaborate further but, similar to last year, I'm expecting a great deal to be played on the screen on stage. And if I recall, Adam and Frank were just using LivePro along with the those shows to accompany the beam projectors. How much material do people have that "actually" take advantage of 5 beam projectors? I know Aaron does. OR... is the thought that we're just playing all the regular Pango stuff through 5 but just balanced, rather than a hodgepodge of projectors like in the past? Maybe I'm just having a "duh" moment here....

Aaron has about 45 minutes of shows that support 5 projectors. After that, if no one else has any multi-projector beam-show content that they want to run in the auditorum, we could take those 5 lovely projectors into the cafeteria for MOAR PHOTON POWER...

Note that my 10-way buffered ILDA splitter box will be in the cafeteria, along with the other splitters that X-laser plans to bring...

How many projectors are really needed for the 'club SELEM' room?

Even though Aaron may be the only with with a bunch of multi-projector shows ready to go, leaving at least an opposing pair of beam projectors on stage may give some other folks the chance to try their hand at experimenting with some hybrid (graphics + beam) shows.

    Just a thought...

I couldn't agree more. While the pre-programmed shows are running someone could be manually doing effects or beams. Really looking forward to that part!
