Hey everyone!
I know we all have a lot going on right now, but I wanted to post a reminder that the 26th annual ILDA conference will be held in San Antonio Texas from Sunday, November 4th through Wednesday, November 7th.
This year's conference is really going to be something special, based on what I've been hearing from my ILDA friends. For one, this will be the first time since 2005 that the annual conference will be held in the US. (The 2008 and 2010 cruse-ship conferences were in international waters, and all the others have been overseas.) Also, Tim Walsh is hosting this conference, so I expect we'll see some more of his awesome work. And of course, the whole thing is being held in San Antonio, home of the Alamo, the famous River Walk, and lots of other cool things to see and do.
At the conference there will be a great deal of laser related events going on, including the always fun LaseOff, where they showcase a variety of laser light shows made by ILDA members, as well as the Awards Banquet, where everyone gets together to honor the outstanding work being done by ILDA members.
I've been informed that Pangolin will also have their annual Pangolin User Group Meeting at the ILDA conference this year. Also, there will be a variety of Laser Training courses on various topics from safety, to technical related things. (See the ILDA website for more information about conference details.)
Several people here on PL have been talking about how to bridge the gap between the hobbyist community and ILDA. The ILDA board has recognized this gap, and they really want to encourage hobbyists to attend the conference this year. So to give some added value, they have decided to offer a $50 discount to any Photon Lexicon member who reads this post and decides to go to the ILDA conference. All you have to do is use the special code "ILDASanAnt12" when you register, and you will get the $50 discount.
So mark your calenders folks; November 4th through the 7th! Sign up soon, and don't forget the special discount code.
See you all in Texas...
Adam
