Variance for a custom built laser
If I was going to get into building my own laser (which does fascinate me, and would be a fun project with my background of electronics), how do you classify it when applying for a variance? I do plan on using it for shows once it's built, tested and finished. The application requires a "model number/manufacturer" - what would you put?

You decide that model number/name/serial number when you do the manufacturer's report on the projector, which goes along with the variance app form. If your building your own or getting a foreign model approved, you do the manufacturer's report showing compliance as well as the application form. If the projector is already aproved, you use the name/serial/ model number already on the projector nameplate. You do have a nameplate on the unit, required by the rules.
This would be typical if your doing your own report:
JOHN DOE
MODEL: SCANTASTIC LASER PROJECTOR
SERIAL -01
OR
JOHN DOE, DBA* DJ PHOTONIX
MODEL LRU SCANTASTIC
SERIAL NUMBER -1-
OR
XYZ LASERS INC
LRU SCANTASTIC
SERIAL # 1234
*DBA = Doing Business As...
Anything is acceptable as long as it states make, model, and serial in a reasonable form.

I think I am going to call my laser projector the scantastic now lol

Scantastic is a homage~ to one of the people who taught me lasers. He had it in his sample paperwork.
