It just kind of irks me that qiqi is still advertising on ebay at 30k and 1W and displaying the ILDA logo all of which I have pointed out to ebay is fraudulent. those are big jumps in price he demands for what is basically the same unit."

Unless I am mistaken qiqi also claims *full color* (along with a gazillion others over there) when AFAIK the laser modules in this unit are NOT analog just ttl/ 7(8 f you count black, lol) color PJs- i wrote them about this a long time ago and just again yesterday. It does not give me the impression of QiQi knowing much about lasers (and maybe more about bondage and latex/rubber clothes) than modulation of lasers.

I have some Seven color 'Linna' LK-PD 2.0 chijectors listed at EEKBay-(& for forum members another round of GB #3) & if anyone finds any error I will not only fix that but will appreciate the heads-up.

I also make a point about where these can be used- while 99 % of the other sellers suggest- bars- pubs-clubs-weddings- discos(rotfl-- are those still in existence?) etc.

I wrote a china seller long ago about the duty/rest cycle of a laser offered- the reply I got back was something like " we no sell(bi) cycles only sell lasers" mmmmmokay-- gotcha..

+3 for a great thread and the pics too- Some have a fear of upgrading Chi-jectors and your work should help overcome that fear.

btw did you have to pay for the better scanset?? we had one 'Linna' PJ that after a few weeks had a green module dropping in output-- Linna quickly DHL Express a new module -no Qs asked --no need to return the old one either!

Pm me if there are any Qs

I did not have to pay qiqi for the lp-30 upgrade but i did have to pay to ship them back the LP-20. while im sure there are cheaper methods I used UPS and the shipping was $64. Somthing to consider. Indeed there are other claims in the ad like full color however the 30k scanspeed spec is easy to fight and in the end was the most important feature for me. I doubt my projector is putting out 1w but its more complicated to fight that claim. For the money having a 30-35k projector with 7 color's is pretty darn good.

Hey A1pyro... Consider this. I purchased this 150 mW 655-665nm red from O-like and really like it. Beam is very crisp, <1 mrad divergence, the graphics on my projector look great. And its only $28.99!
    Check it out:

Unfortunately it is TTL, but that might be OK for your Chinese projector! I mounted it using a 1/2" Conduit clamp, works like a charm...No more fat red beams!

P.S. I enjoy your laser artwork on the Hinged Newt forum!

    Default My Initiation

Speaking of "Cheap Chinese Lasers". It seems part of the initiation into the world of laser projectors and the attraction to intense rainbow illuminations begins with buying a Chinese projector off e bay, Alibaba, etc. Because from what I've gathered, even with known flaws, its an inexpensive way to get our feet wet, learn the mechanics, work with software, etc. Before we go off the deep end and buy $3,000 vari!nced projectors and $600.00 for decent entry level software. I would love to have the $$ to do that right off the bat but I like many don't.. So we disregard others experience, cross our fingers and hope the projector we ordered was build by someone in China that loves his job, is having a good day and thinks to himself, " I hope someone appreciates what I do".
Well that wasn't the case for me..You see I ordered one from a company in China that I didn't realize was "less than honorable" and had some issues that were ongoing until I joined PL and started digging..We will call them "XYZ" lasers (pick one of the 3 letters)
What was supposed to take 3-5 days shipping, ended up takig over 3 weeks, was given false tracking numbers, the worst communication ever...blah, blah, blah...you get the point. After arrival, I was soo excited..I opened the big box like a kid at Christmas ( I'm 54)..there gleaned the shiny flight case, removed it and opened it up and removed my new XYZ laser...
Upon first inspection, I found 2 screws missing and 3 loose ones..oh sh@#! Ok, time to open it up...Hmm, should transformers be loose and not attached to the case? Tool time! After bending the bent tabs on it, I found some screws and finished someone else's job...put it back together and fired it up..btw, the instruction pages were minimalistic (5 pages of bad copies with faded ink)
My 1w RGB711 "new out of the box" doesn't seem to respond to music, has bright green lines and points while projecting animations and graphics but otherwise seems to display ok.(blanking issues) ?
This XYZ. 1w RGB711 with SD card and 2/3 D switching ran 459.00 inc flight case and fedx shipping. The cost of my learning curve..Hopefully it will respond better once I have a dac and software...
Just thought I'd share my initiation into your world. If you have objective feedback, reply in kind. If you feel the need to get all hostile, subjective or nasty, count to 100 and let it go..I'm going to attach pics..you can laugh, shake your head or know you've been there, done that..One question though. With all the experience, education here, why has no one person, group or organization compiled a up to date reference book or course for laser enthusiasts? Just my curiosity at work.

    Hi Wes.

Welcome to PL. I'm a newby too and also own cheapy lasers from CN, although built my first laser (500mW green) out of bits and bobs.
There are actually some reasonably well built lasers from CN. Goldenstar lasers seem to be owned by a few on the forum.

At least if you aren't happy with your laser, you can learn how to repair it or modify it. I've got lots of broken lasers that aren't worth repairing (because they are cheap Chinese rubbish) and will be using components to build lumia projectors. It's a great way to learn as it doesn't cost much to do and it's not a great loss if something goes pop.

There is some good info in the PL Wiki Lots of safety which is important plus some resources in section 11. I've been kept busy trying to read the whole of PL, which is clearly never going to happen but am learning a huge amount every day

I've had a Goldenstar cheapy unit since Monday. The Red diode lasted about 20 minutes. It has a single RGB module in it. I emailed amy @ goldenstar (who I'd been dealing with) and she asked for video, which I sent. I haven't heard back since. I sent her another email telling her that if they could send me a new W600 RGB module, I could probably pull the old one out and send it back. We'll see if I get a response.

I paid like $398 shipped, and while it was working it actually looked pretty nice. I'm not very experienced, but it made nice clean, semi-complex shapes without any noticeable flicker. I never ran anything complicated through it as I don't have a DAC yet. The colors were pretty darn well aligned for such an inexpensive unit, and the inside of the cabinet is well laid out, nice wire routing, everything was clean and neat. it claimed 300mw 638 (I'm guessing a Mitsu diode), 80mw 532, 300mw 445, and was much brighter than I expected. I was quite pleased until it became a GB projector.

So Amy is trying desperately to resolve the situation, the language barrier is making it difficult to communicate that I can't send back my laser module until I have a new one in hand, due to my upcoming party. That's not her fault, though. I can still give Goldenstar two thumbs up for genuinely having an interest in resolving my issue. Way better customer service than your average American cable, cellular or banking provider.
