I wouldn't! Not sure, but don't think they were 'I-2000s', the beams were far-less than 28" in dia.... Really, the beams / fans were reasonably-tight, and bright.. Might've been yers, (?) I mean, they've been maintaining the 171s for a loooong-arse time there, too, so... Not like they're 'strangers to keepin stuff goin via PM' / knowing what the frack they're doin, etc.. Ya know.. 'da Old Skool'..

I'll try and ask 'em, next time we're toolin' thru that neighborhood.. Finding they were a couple 'a Cobras would-be quite knarly, indeed..

    cheers..

I talked to the laserist working the Brad Paisley tour this summer. The show was at the Sprint Center here in KC. I don't know if he actually knew I was a dumb idiot crowd go'er although he would have been right.

The show was a stunning display to say the least. But my BS meter kind of went off when I asked him how many watts the lasers were. There were 5 in all and he said they were full color 80W lasers.

I said thanks and walked away. He sounded like he was from Europe so I'm guessing he meant Liters not Gallons....or something.

    80W full color indoors?

    I'm not so sure....

i worked with Jim Martin at the NY shows as LSO
and as i recall they were Kavant 20w each and i think there were 5
    1 center flown for scrim
2 left and right at stage edge
2 left and right from those weird metal octagon cages from the back of the stage

I know the Co. that is doing his Tour and they are 20W Kvant-systems.. maybe he was referring to 'power-consumption'?

suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.

    So...

anyone besides me read this and think, "Kvant", "New York" (i.e. US), "major artist tour" and have the word variance pop up in their mind? So what is the story on Kvant these days? Are they now getting products approved through CDRH?

80W or 20W I really don't have a reference point to guess but I really didn't think based on what little I know that they were 80W. I think power consumption in all must have been it. It's neat to see people that post here who know "so and so" to give us noobs some insight to the big music scene. Thanks for clarifying.

I've seen Brad Paisley twice and his light/stage show is incredible given the genre he is in. Plus he casn pick a mean gi' tar too. So happy to be an 'mericun.
