The clock thing at burning man 2011 was not the first year of that. I think it was also in 2001? We got yelled at a bunch for allowing our beams to cross the clock. I think it was only about 3 watts of power on the clock that year, was hard to see.
last year i think that it was 2 watts
If vBS's search didn't suck pelotas de mono, I could ref the info I posted about this.. Short-version: Some specific-models, are, but they are not known-as 'Kvant Spectrums', in the CDRH-DBs.. they are under the 'Spectrabeam'-family, by a specific-Co.. Also, some individual Co's have had thier-particular models certified, as 'one-offs', and are on-Tour, etc.. Neither-case means that *all* Kv Spectrums are 'therefore, Certified', let-alone compliant. Some models out there, are compliant, but simply have not-yet 'passed thru the fires' of being 'getting the paper', etc. (therefore, are as-of-yet, 'un-certified'..)
..In-any case, the fact that some-are, and have 'passed', means that - in-theory - it should be at-least somewhat easier for someone with a different-model Kvant, sharing similar-characteristics, (ie: beam-paths / already-incorporated safety-controls, etc) perhaps save-for power-levels, etc, to get theirs certified, because the CDRH has a 'point of reference' already in the system, via the Acc. #-for the approved similar-model. Note, this does-not authorize, nor-validate, 'cookie-cutting'..
Hope that helps... not that it has anything to-do with this thread..
