Hey there, yeah i thought I got lucky one time and scored a 30 by 10 sheet of "anti-reflection" coated glass for $5.00, but instead I'd sent Dave on a mission to get a piece of frosted glass. The stuff is transparent only if you hold a painting or something of some naked lady's vagina up close to the glass, but otherwise is more like lumia than anything else.

    meh.

I'm still waiting for the glass sample - looks like it didn't make it out before christmas. I'll hound the suppliers next week when they get back from christmas break.

    slack fuckers

Once I get a sample of this new stuff and determine if it's suitable, I will post some prices up

    Thanks for the interest guys!

    Okay.

So we got a sample. We have done some quick basic tests just now...

With our RGB laser...at near 0 degrees angle of incidence, ~126mw before the glass = ~121mw after the glass...

~96% total transmission... I guess the 4mm of glass in between the two coatings absorbs a bit of light. Still a massive improvement over using normal uncoated glass.

After including material, cutting & local freight costs, we could offer these out at $30AUD a pop for a 100mm by 100mm piece (plus shipping), or less if you buy quantities....

If anybody would like us to take any other types of measurements let us know...

I can get these within a week...

We just need to work out a safe and inexpensive way of shipping bits of glass around the world.

    Any suggestions ?

Wrap each glass window with optic grade tissue/foam. Sandwich the part in between heavy card stock or better thin plywood about 1/8" thick. Tape the sandwiched components to avoid movement. Ship in box padded with foam or the like...giving plenty of room....should make it OK.

What about a cd/dvd case in a jiffy envelope?

I could use a piece if shipping to USA is reasonable.

Wow.. awesome response already guys. Thanks for the suggestions. I kinda like the dvd case idea

might need to "test" that with a normal *cheap* piece of glass.

Anyway - once I have the weight down-pat, i can post the shipping to the diferent destinations.

It would probably be most economical to use EMS...
