read back in the thread.
i personally use photographic lens protective ar coated filters. They are easily available new or second hand, are mounted have good transmission characteristics, are available in lots of sizes to suit all and are cheap.
try ebay or your local photo supplier.

I measured the Hoya HMC Skylight 1B multi-coated filter transmission of 532nm to be over 99% with just .45mW reflected from an 80mW beam. The red and blue transmission should be even better according to the Hoya graph.
I'm planning to try of the even cheaper Jessops ones next.
Top-tip Rob, cheers![]()
A little bit werrrr, a little bit weyyyyyy, a little bit arrrrgggghhh
Agreed. I've overlooked camera parts. Shouldn't have. Polarisers, filters, AR coated windows. Could be all kinds of good stuff, big, and fairly cheap, so cost effective to cut into smaller bits.
Anyone know if there are AR coated IR filters ideal for DPSS laser use? I'd read that there might be, but not very efficient ones, but I suspect there might be some very ideal ones somewhere for low cost. I just don't know enough photography stuff to know what might be out there.
hmmmm good question though Im not sure either. The only refrence I have seen wrt photography and IR is infrared filters that pass IR and block other wavelengths (or at least reduce them) for crazy effects on BW film.
We could always ask that plant pot who blights alt.lasers from time to time - the one who sells the flourecent dye, im sure he used to sell ir filters, irrc they allow you to see through clothes...maybe not. Not much x ray emmissions from my dpss...

LMAO! Plant pot.I'm still laughing three minutes later. They are deceptive, these plant pots, one is anyway... Heruursciences is one I once thought fitted the porous clay type of brain, but he seems instead to be something far brighter that is very happy to look like the dumbest seller on eBay. Hell knows why, he knows more than most. Asking him might be worth a go. Another eBay seller who's good for useful stuff like low-temp solders and NdFeB magnets is Scientificos. Only problem with all this is we then get back to relatively specialised stuff. At which point costs and rarity go up.
I know what you mean about Chris Leubner (Heruursciences) I too think he is a knowledgeable chap (I nearly said very clever - but didnt), but seems to be happy in his little world. I have heard lots of stories of him mis-selling stuff and he certainly seems to have upset on more than one occasion.
That said I have made 3 purchases off him (a long time ago) all of which turn out to be very good.

Hi there ppl, I'm looking for some ar too.
Hopefully here at work we have plenty video projectors wich use HID lamps.
When they need substitution I just don't pay much atention on the broken ones, but after reading this topic I went to look more carefully at one of those and yes in front of the lamp they have a very beautifull ar coated window, feel free to observe that there are plenty of types and manufactures, the ones that seems better to me are from a U-880, have some sony too, but I've to figure how to dis-glue it from the lamp (if it is possible at all).
