I am in too but finances and xmas coming means i cant put much in untill xmas is out the way
Having a big family kills at this time of year
Looking to build around the 3w mark depending on price

When God said “Let there be light” he surely must have meant perfectly coherent light.
As an alternative. Do you have some idea how the beam quality is with these?i will probably investigate the Nd:YVO4 + MgO:PPLN chips on eBay. Looks like 1W can be had for just over $300. I have been thinking 4 of these could be knifed together to get 4 watts or 8w with cube.
Unfortunately I don't have any real experience with them.
However, the raw divergence is suppose to be 10-15 mRad with a .1 -.15mm diameter. If this is true the collimated beam should be around 1-1.5mm with 1-1.5 mRad divergence. I emailed the seller about max pump power. He said 5-6watts should be the max.
I just went to order one from eBay. The auctions are indeed all goneI sent the seller an email to see if they are still available.
EDIT: just found the their website: c2clinkdotcom
As for the PPLN modules...
I seriously thought about buying one of them.
I went into shock when I priced the 4W c=mount pumps vs the 7 watt fiber pump we're trying for the discrete crystal version. There is more demand for the fiber coupled diodes, so the price per watt is lower.
The noisy outlier points on the 1 watt end of the curve worry me as well. When I read a paper on discrete PPLN modules and amplitude noise at the high end, I decided to save my money.
However I will help you any way I can.
Until some one tries one or two of them, we won't know...
Good Luck,
Steve

How much is the 7watt fiber diode?
I plan to buy a PPLN chip if the seller isn't bogus. We'll see![]()
I am feeling out the PPLN route myself. Logsquared and I are heading in the same direction. I am going to order one soon.
Steve do you have a good place to get a 5W 808 with FAC? PM me... And did I read correct that the fiber version is cheaper than a c-mount?

When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.
I don't want a fiber. It will add an extra optic and tons of space.

Chad, often your stuck with the fiber for pricing reasons.
We can cut the fiber length down to inches when we order the bulk batch. They will cut/polish/connectorize it at the factory
The fiber gives us a smaller spot size in the crystal, which is a better beam diameter in the end product.
Its 220$ more for a un-corrected c-mount of the same power, which has a far larger spot size.
And its TWO less lenses in the 2-4 watt design.
Fiber has a SMA on it, making for easy positioning
Fiber = good.
Vendor made it clear, C-mount = PITA at 7 watts where I needed it.
They also only sell in lots of 10. We're getting a over-run of 2 for the samples.
I'll ask them if they have anything C mount at 3-4 watts ...
Try Junktronix for a one off.
