[QUOTE=badger1666;246083]KTP vs. LBO? lbo slightly hygroscopic are the avdvantages worth putting up with it
and making sure the cavity is well sealed ?? not that it should not be anyway but would be worrying all the time the cavity was open and working on it
Message I just sent to Planters:
coated BBO and LBO crystals last one year in the open air here in humid Ohio
We actually have lasers where they are yearly consumables. The logs say we get two years or so per when they are in open air.
The lasers with dessicants go for 5 years.
Its not the body of the crystal that crumbles, its the coated faces. They turn grey. You move them over and use it some more.
Our other lasers just mount them in boxes with Ar coated windows glued on.
Not a problem with some thought....

I'll never understand the flavors of up, down, charged, and strange Quarks! Or I go talk to the lady next door who researches the damage AIDS does to DNA and have no idea how she studies a protein that snips a tiny segment of DNA and ONLY that segment... Steve
