the 808 diode in green modules has a pin connect to the diode case, they are not isolated like new 638nm diodes. so cheap chinese green modules need to be isolated from the base plate other wise pop

Yeah, as well as Nylon M3 bolts i've just ordered some Kapton tape to insulate the barrel in the mount. Do you reckon 2 or three layers under the mount should insulate that too?

    We're talking two issues here.

-Not connecting the earth of the wallplug to the PSU. It will lift the frame, and anything attached to 115VAC. This can go unnoticed until it finds a way to discharge though something that is earthed.

-Not isolating a diode from the baseplate. This will surely go wrong if the diode is case positive and the baseplate is earthed. This can go unnoticed if the case is negative, and the baseplate is earthed, but can cause groudloops.

Combination of the above issues can cause all sorts of misery.

    1!

thin is best as too much wont transfer the heat from the diode to the ally holder

So, the IEC connector will be earthed to the chassis bolt, as will both power supplies and the green will be isolated from the baseplate

    Not really hard to do.
Yes the case and baseplate gonna be earthed
But none of your power supplys have thier dc ground tied
To earth , most dpss lasers are build so thier base is isolated
So no worry there ,the only thing you got to watch is , you mount
Any pcb's for drivers/ect with nylon mounts
Then if anything nearby goes wrong you dont get
Any ac spikes in the earth deciding to take that trip
To earth via your lasers and electronics

When God said “Let there be light” he surely must have meant perfectly coherent light.

The only driver onboard is the badpip quad. That's mounted directly to the base plate with 4 M3 cap screws through the FET's
