In the words of everyone's kids, are we there yet?
Well, most of us are. Mario (Ragdoll) won't arrive until this afternoon, because St. Louis airport was snowed in on Friday morning, so they cancelled his flight. The next one that had any space available was today. It's going to be a challenge for him to make it from the airport to La Cebia where the ferry is before the ferry leaves... (Boat leaves at 4 PM, and it's a 3 hour drive from the airport to the port.) If he clears customs in a timely manner, he'll be OK. If not, he'll have to spend a night on the mainland.
But Daniel, Cody and his girlfriend, and Marie and I all made it here yesterday afternoon around 5:15 PM or so. It was quite windy, and the ferry ride was - erm - "spirited". A small (~60 ft) diesel-powered Cat (actually a SWATH, not a catamaran) running flat out (~ 30 kts) into a beam-sea that was rolling at 8-10 ft, with some sets topping 12 ft. Several times we broached. Couple people on the boat ended up chumming the water off the stern.
Daniel held it in pretty well, but once we got on the mainland it proved too much for the poor lad. Dinner last night was not enjoyable for him, but we're hopeful that a good night's rest will restore him to good health (or at least cure his violently upset stomach.) When we go back, I'll be sure to give him some dramamine. (Totally forgot that I had some in my bag... OOPS.)
Later this morning we're going to work on a couple of Rich's (Neutrino's) projectors, and once Mario gets here we're thinking about doing some SCUBA diving. Tonight we should have some coherent fun...
Already got a picture of the sunrise this morning... It was a little cloudy, but now that the sun is up the clouds have burned off. Hot as hell though. (Wife loves it though...)

Thanks for the update. One word. Grr....
My staff spent yesterday trying to convince me that I could have taken off and they could have handled it. I'm not missing something like this again, damn it.![]()
The waves were only really rough on Satuday. Yesterday it was dead calm until about 3 in the afternoon, but even then it was 1 ft seas only.
I went snorkelling in the afternoon yesterday and took some underwater shots... They came out really nice! Here's a few teasers...
And finally, a shot of the "laser workshop"... This was before Mario arrived; it's even more crowded now!
Sure wish more of you could have made the trip. We've been having a fantastic time. Went out to eat at this place called "driftwood"... It's run by a family from Texas, and their food is awesome. We put away a good bit of alcohol though. (And yes, Tequilla was involved!)
Tomorrow we start the SCUBA training... Can't wait!

Very cool guys... Have fun in the sun and Light up the night...

Wow, that's nice Adam. Had i known ahead of time, I would have lent you my GoPro HD video camera. We used it in Los Cabos and it takes great underwater (and open air) video. I bet the water there sure is warmer than the sea of cortez. y'all have fun; we're in if it happens again next year......
We will probably organize another meet like this, but it might not be next year. We will have to see how things go.
As for the Go Pro, Daniel Briggs brought one with him, plus I also have another video camera that is good for ~ 15 ft or so. I used that video camera yesterday to capture some video of an eagle ray and some squid. I'll need to edit the videos down a bit to reduce the size, but eventually I'll get them up here on PL.
Daniel tried SCUBA for the first time yesterday (he had never even been snorkeling before), and he loved it! So he's doing the standard open water class, while Mario, Cody and I are doing the advanced class. We should still have a few dives together, which will be lots of fun I'm sure.
