HAHA! Yeah, I saw that one on Digg a while back. Pretty cool though!

I never did learn exactly how the image was manipulated to add the bug though. (The low-res version that showed the dark line, not the higher-res photoshopped version, that is.) Was it a natural artifact, or was someone messing around at Google?

It was genuine, an earwig (bug) must have been on the film that they scanned.
It isn't on the 2007 version though.

Oh, I didn't realise that... Strange though, that it shows up as a dark streak in the low res version, and only resolves as a bug when you look at the close up. You'd think that the bug would be the same size no matter which resolution they're looking at. (Or do they composite the data from the highest-resolution pics in order to make the zoomed-out, lower resolution views maybe?) I dunno...

Either way though, it's a funny glitch!

Paul asked me not to post the address publically. He preferred that we send the directions (along with a map from mapquest and an overhead view from google earth or something) to each of the attendees via Private Message here on the board. I'll be doing that later today.
