Got train? Railroad led signal lights!
I went to my favorite surplus place. Its right next to a major train yard. Train technicians need gear and parts too, so they traded LED signal modules for neat stuff.
So I suddenly have 7 yellow, 17 Red, and 4 Green GE RM4 signal heads that are surplus to my needs. 75 to 80 Leds and a custom lens array in a waterproof package.
Downside, the Railroads are very picky about used equipment getting recycled. So the driver boards are "de-militarized" by disconnecting the LED array and applying 110 AC to
the inputs. The LEDs are in series parallel strings and matched for forward voltage so there are no resistors on the board. The intensity across most panels is VERY uniform.
Unless you cut some traces and add a few resistors, the boards need 65-75 VDC and a current liming resistor to run them. The 10V to 90V step up transformer on the driver board is not blown, so if
you want to experiement, I can toss in the circuit board, but its heavy and thus you need to add about 2$ to the shipping.
So what can you do with 70 Gelcore GE custom made LEDs in a T1-3/4 package? Well, these things have a TIGHT beam. They are designed for a .95 mile MINIMUM visibility.
Think LED BLINDERS for RAVES, LED Lighting for TREES, or a Crossing Signal for the Mancave. Seriously, these things are bright!
I open up and test every LED array. They flunk if more then 2 leds are out. I have to wear goggles when doing this, Yes, that BRIGHT! They can easily be made watertight again with
some RTV silicon from the hardware store, they were designed to be repaired. IP65 Outdoor housing made of Clear and Black Lexan. The LEDs and Lens Array are on a flat disk PCB.
and can be used without the outer housing. You could not order 80 matched Leds for what I'm asking. I'm holding on to 3 in case something goes wrong, and some one is not happy. I may be able
to get more.
Built like a Brick Outhouse.... These things are tough, and you can spray em down after a gig....
I need to pay for what I've bought in parts for the "Big Green" development, so these are going....

SO post what you want in the thread so we have a count and PM me,
Greens, Reds, and Yellows are 25$ Each + shipping as needed.
