Hey guys. I know this is an old thread, but it seemed the appropriate place to ask this question.
I have the opportunity to get hold of a laserscope KTP crystal with heater system for under $300. I was rather tempted by the thought of acquiring a cheap SSY-1 Nd:YAG head just to try things out with ($150 ish off ebay).
A) would this be a good place to start
B) any guesses on output power (I know it'll be small compared to a laserscope's full potential)
C) anybody be interested in the crystal / heater setup
D) should I be able to turn such a thing into a decent green with some sort of powerful pump I would assume it would sell well?
Thanks. And yes I know I'm a noob.
You could make it lase however, you'd never get close to CW; maybe 1hz pulses if your lucky.
Here's a video of a modded laserscope up and running.

laserguy532, can you run that big green off of two 120 volt lines?

The beam is a simle issue, it exists around 3mm but controlling it is quite tricky as all the optics concirned have to be high power which also means high cost.
Blanking is another issue, there are several ways but we try a new one.
