That looks really nice! Do you have a video of it in action?

How did you control it? Did you use an audio program to play back the waves, or is there a way for Laserboy to control the soundcard directly?

Hello colouredmirrorball, I do not have any videos.... the stills were taken from people who attended the venue. The "Happy New Year 2013" you see in the picture is playing from a wave file via Spider Player through DAC through Amp Correction board to scanner.
At 11:59pm I had to cue up sound effects, cue up music to play, blast my fogger at full tilt, count down 10-0 on mic and then hit play on Spider Player, play sound effects, hit play on que'd song..... so it is alot of prep work within 60 seconds to get it all right and timed properly.
Ummmmm, now that I think about it.... I may have a video on my phone from when I was fine tuning wave file at home days prior to Djing. I will double check.
I had alot of support from James during my project building and ilda/wave file making.

LaserBoy only reads and writes files. That's it! It makes no connection to any kind of DAC.

It can take a set of frames and turn it into a timed wave of any specified frames per second and it usually gets it down pretty accurately (depending on the frame material).

Sorry colouredmirrorball for the misunderstanding. The images were created with LaserBoy, made into a wav file (LaserBoy saves and converts the file) and played back via Spider Player. There is no need to have LaserBoy running in background. Like JL mentioned, it makes no connection to DAC.....

What misunderstanding? It was just a question, I'm pretty unfamiliar with how LB works. I tried it out in the past before I had a DAC but I didn't have much luck.

If it works for you it's all for the best.

I have to admit, LaserBoy is pretty weird! It is not like any other laser app I've ever seen. It does everything it does to and from files. All of those files must be inside of the LaserBoy folder in the appropriate folders, there in.

And yes, there is no freakin' mouse! It's all keyboard!

It can read ILDA, DXF, formatted text, formatted and unformatted wave as sources of color vector art. It can also import bitmaps for tracing or for coloring or subtracting color from the vector art. It can save files as ILDA, DXF, formatted text, formatted wave and bitmap.

The visual editor can create original art, modify existing art and apply animation effects to individual frames, selected frames or the whole frame set. It can also apply a comprehensive set of optimizations to vector art for proper scanning on just about any system that accepts ILDA files as input.

Since it outputs ILDA (in all formats) it is useful to anyone with any kind of laser DAC.

However there are quite a few features specifically to make it work with waves and The LaserBoy DAC.
