LEM in dutch theater
Hi laserfreaks.
I've seen an upcoming event in February in what we call Friesland which for some people is a bit far to drive (for me 2,5 hours).
So i've asked my friends at the theater if we could organize a LEM over there, and here is nearby Rotterdam (Westland, surrounding with the glass houses)
The answer was: YES
For anyone who would like to come over from the UK, they could travel by Stenaline which harbor is 20 minutes from the theater, or if you travel by plane you could travel to Rotterdam airport which is also 20 minutes from the theater.
Or maybe someone from Belgium?
The only problem is when and do we have people who would like to come over?
The theater is completely booked for 2013, the only free option they gave me is on 31 March and the 1st of April (Easter).
I know it's a little bit fast behind the LEM in February but i think this is a special opportunity to have a LEM in a theater!
This is the theater
They also have a big digital projector to show movies with, maybe we could arrange something with the local technical people that we do a video/lasershow?
But maybe i'm going to fast, first see if there is someone who's interested!

I think it is a bit close to the Marrum lem. (and people would tend to burn holes in the plush-seats
)
But maybe you can make it stand out, by giving it a special theme.
For example, tutorials or lectures.
I would come if people would do a one hour tutorial on, LSX, beyond 3D, or beyond frame editor, or Fiesta, or livepro, or...
I would strongly advise you to shield any video-projector during a lasershow, especially a lem . Likely it is s a dlp, which is much less mpe-tolerant then the human eye.
The risk of you being held liable for a megabucks repair, while trying to offer something to the laser-community would be extra sour.

I would support doing a LEM in one of the smaller Dutch theatres, but as Bart said, you'd need to take some precautions to make sure the theatre's equipment is protected.
On the other hand, the theatre setting is quite amazing and it has technical facilities that could be very useful for a LEM. For example, the scenery and curtains in a theatre are hoisted up on computer controlled systems -- most theatres have things like a mesh screen in storage standard. These can even be dropped or raised mid-show time, or masking for beam stops could be integrated into the hoisting systems and flown into the stage on demand. I know how to operate these systems since I'm a service engineer for theatrical rigging installations by profession.
Lectures are also a very good thing to look at in theatres, since the video/sound system is already prepared for that.

They have it all over there.
I had 2 shows there last year, my first shows ever, and the next year i have 15 shows in the same theater.
But i wanted to share this special place with you all if your interested?
Maybe i could ask to get another date later upcoming year?
And like Bart suggested, it would be a good idea!
What i ment with the video projector, if we do a combined show we have to setup them in the same direction so the beams won't harm the projector.
After that we have to protect the projector.
But first we need more people who would come.
