Default So I got this meter...

It's a metrologic 45-545. I got it on impules and when I looked it up I only looked up the wavelengths it measured not the limit of its power measuring. ops: It only reads to 20mW... Well, it was $66 shipped. Not too expensive of a mistake.

I emailed the manufacturer about re-calibrating it, and while not a 100% positive response it was very prompt and they offered another suggestion...

I would advise against trying to re-calibrate the meter to read 200 mW. I am afraid that the output of the silicon photocell's output would become saturated at a much lower power level than that. The meter would produce artificially low readings, because the photocell could no longer output a signal proportional to the optical input.

An approach that would work would be to put a neutral density filter between the laser and the detector. If you put an attenuation of 100 times between laser and detector, a reading of 2.00 mW (actually 1.99 mW on the 3 1/2 digit display) would represent a laser power of 200 mW.
Fist question, anyone know about these meter and have you happend to recalibrate it?

Second and much easier to answer... Where can I get a neutral density filter to work the above suggestion? :?

    Yes,...
As I have one of those as well... It is very limited but its cheap.
The use of ND filters is about the only way to do it..

Yes, to the second question as well..
I can cal it for you ,, but you will need to find some ND filters
Make sure they are made of glass as plastic will melt from absoption.
An Nd1 (10:1) or an ND2 (100:1) ratio are good ones to start with ...

it must be calibrated with the filters....

still wont be super accurate because it will still depend on angle of incidence, but close

    You're the Man!

What can I use for filters though, or where do I get them? :?
