Wow. 3 of these arrived on at my door today (sent yesterday morning from Hong Kong). No... all three aren't mine.

Amazing. For $400 this is one hell of an interesting little projector. Turn it on, aim it at the ceiling and be mezmerized for 10 minutes seeing all the stuff it does just in "auto" mode.

Alignment was spot on and these 3D patterns are very, very cool. The lumia is so-so but still pretty impressive. The burst grating gives the other static effects nearly a 180 degree throw. And two of us are still trying to figure out how they're scanning through a grating and yet coming up with what's on the wall. Almost like a dual head scanning system.

(Yes.... before you start, I know it's not legal for public use in my country but, this is R & D we're talking about here. I really don't necessarily want to tear it apart at this point!)

I'll break out the screwdriver soon enough but, it's got some very interesting mechanics, just looking through the aperture.

    Brad,

Please start a new thread once you get out the screw drivers with lots of pictures of course!

It is a source which emits a kind of light of unrivaled purity and intensity not found in any of the previously known sources of radiation. - Lasers & Non-Linear Optics, B.B. Laud.

More than one grating? Is one fixed, the other rotating?

Looking at the photos laserlinna posted they do seem to rotate. But some video would be nice Brad.

Actually that's exactly what I was thinking of doing. I may just set up the video camera on a tripod- turn the laser on and record it running in auto mode for a bit.

I do think there are multiple rotating gratings - and they can be controlled via DMX to go clockwise or counterclockwise. One may drop into place and be fixed.

The lumia can either move normally like we usually see (although a little fast) OR, the wheel will stay still but the colors cycle on and off

By the way... Linna if you read this... can we still get more at "January" pricing for a bit longer? I'd strongly consider buying another one of these.

And another thing.... Steve's comment about the manual in #39 is also spot on. Very well written with a big emphasis on safety and little to no Chinglish.

The scanners in this are also 25k.

    As requested... here's a video:

Only took half the day to shoot, convert and upload!

There is another couple of minutes that's probably searchable on Youtube but, you get the idea.

suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.

Crap... I'll try to get that fixed.

Edit - should be good now.
