    PL Friends,

Please see the updated list for the lenticular plastic group buy. If you have any updates for me regarding payment, please let me know.

Laser (the acronym derived from Light Amplification by Stimulated Emissions of Radiation) is a spectacular manifestation of this process. It is a source which emits a kind of light of unrivaled purity and intensity not found in any of the previously known sources of radiation. - Lasers & Non-Linear Optics, B.B. Laud.

I got my lenticular plastic thingies last week (Thanks, Greg!) and just added it to my lumia wheel. I think it makes a pretty cool effect. The following video shows some quick and simple shapes projected through a scrim.

Also note that in this video, the plastic itself is static, just the frames were rotated / resized. In comparison to the LK-PD1 video that Brad posted in January, I think that Greg's plastic seems to exaggerate the 3D effect more.

Ideally, the plastic should be mounted in DMX controlled rotating wheel like the LK-PD1/2 have.

Nice! I really like the blue and magenta tube. Half the fun is going to be sorting through existing cues and seeing what they look like "lenticularized". (New word for the day. )

It does, slightly - there's not a huge difference between the two. Visually, you can tell that the plastics are different, but this material is much cleaner optically. Don't know if that is the direct result of handling or an artifact from manufacturing?

It shouldn't require anything too complicated for the effect that DZ was showing in his video - just cut this stuff in a disc and mount it to a DC gearmotor. Dave/Lasershowparts has a DMX controller for 0-10 VDC that should work nicely for this. That will be how I implement it.

    Thanks for the video!

Anyone had a go running some simple abstracts through these yet, or does it get too busy?

Interested to see them with a burst grating in front of them too.

I think the grating will spoil a lot of the beauty because it'll remove all the gradients that give it depth.
In experiments with graphics and gratings I've been a bit underwhelmed generally due to the colour split.
