    Andy,

If the brass flex mounts you were having trouble with are Dave's, I disagree that they are "no good". They are not perfectly stable and immune to shifting, but they are pretty good. What I have found in my builds is that these need to be adjusted and then revisited a couple days later and tweaked at that time. This delay seems to be necessary and leads to much longer stability. The super thin mirrors you are using are very vulnerable to flexing. I am surprised that such mirrors can be figured to high accuracy, but whatever. You should mount each of these mirrors with a single point of adhesive near its back center.

    White-Light,

I have built small, approx 12mm square tip/tilt mounts ( not to the precision of a typical Thor Labs mount ) and I use them when the tip/tilt AND AXIAL TRANSLATION are needed. They work and so a pro level mount of these dimensions is certainly practical.
well nothing was aimed at daves, yes i have some of daves i also have some ive made.

like i said it was just my view they are not as stable as id like

I would be interested to see them - all the pics I have ( 3 different models, including a rgb6 ) are substantially different..

I have to say in defence of the Kvant ones mine have never moved, they're just a nightmare to adjust.

@ Planters, you should send a suggestion to Thor labs if you've done it successfully. I'm sure there has to be a market for an ultra stable precision adjustable micro mount. Only issue I could ever see with builders is the price. But then again there are cheap dichro holders out there and better companies still fit Thor so there clearly are people willing to pay for quality and precision.

the rgb photos i have show a square foot with an up right where you bolt the head from the side locking it in place

where as the kvant one use an L shape and bolt from the back

    if that makes sense?

I haven't ever had any issues with flex mounts. Yes, I've had to realign my big RGB once but they are substantially more solid than 3 axis mounts. I've used Dave's so far but I have 6 of Robs ones about to go into the 2 builds shortly. It sounds as if your problem is the mirrors.
One thing I don't do is tighten up all the screws fully tight, I tend to adjust the main one appropriately, and then just pinch up the screw acting in the opposite direction, rather than really clamping them both down hard. This makes adjustment a cinch.

You are using Bonetti's defense against me, ah?

I thought it fitting, considering the rocky terrain.

What glue are you using andy ?
I have had problems in the past with expansion and contraction of epoxy glue
