Do you know what the working radius of the apparatus is? On the order of one meter?
I guess it isn't really suitable for stage use...

Also with what principle does it work? My friend said ultrasonic sound waves but I can't find anything on their website about it...

Good to know it works as advertised, it looked too good to be true.

$80 is a pretty good price point for the Leap, just not sure how it will be at gigs as I use a (small!) laptop. Could be a revolution, mat be a flash in the pan!

    It wasn't $80, it was $800.

EDIT: Apparently I was mistaken - that, or else they had a typo on the site and have since corrected it. But yeah, it really is just 80 bucks.

    Eek!

    Cheaper to buy a touchscreen!!

You can buy a 22" ELO commercial Touchscreen monitor for less than that!

Is this supposed to be a joke? I don't really get it :P
Their website states $79.99 incl. VAT.

If this true (their website says $79.99) then it has already failed. Hope no one has shares!

Huh - When I looked at it a while back (It was posed on Reddit not too long ago) I could have sworn I saw $799.99 for the regular price, with a special $100 discount for pre-orders that brought it down to $699.99

    But I just looked again, and you're right, it's $79.99, and $69.99 for pre-orders. So yeah, ~ 80 bucks.

Hmm... At that price, it's actually reasonable. Before, when I thought it was 800 bucks, I didn't give it a moment's thought, because there's no way I'd pay that much. But now it's got me thinking...

Either they had a typo and edited their website, or I'm getting so old that I can't read my monitor anymore.!.

I have borrowed our company's Leap Motion device and will happily demonstrate any feature/capability for you.

I'm going to explore integrating it with Pangolin's software via a gesture-to-MIDI intermediary (assuming one exists). And if there's anything else you're interested in, please post here and I'll see what I can find out / demonstrate for you.

I would be very interested if you could get it to produce OSC commands.
If I end up doing shows with this thing I'll probably have a midi controller (maybe two) attached to the software and it can only handle so many channels at once...
With OSC I have 127 new variables to play with.

    From the developer documentation...

"The Leap software analyzes the objects observed in the device field of view. It recognizes hands, fingers, and tools, reporting both discrete positions, gestures, and motion. The Leap field of view is an inverted pyramid centered on the device. The effective range of the Leap extends from approximately 25 to 600 millimeters above the device (1 inch to 2 feet)."

Here's some conjecture on how it might work... https://forums.leapmotion.com/showth...w-does-it-work

    From the leapOSC developer...

"Currently works with up to 4 hands and 20 fingers(5 fingers per hand). Outputs 305 data values, 5 for the frame data and 75 per hand."

The following link details the full list of OSC Channel Names and Assignments currently supported...

I'll try and get this working and post a demo if I get a chance...
