A few people on the Pangolin team also have one.

taggalucci, contact me by email and we'll all put our heads together and figure out the best way to respond to this device.

A user here on the forum philr has it talking to Ether Dream via python, not sure if he is an LSX user. But DrLava has one on preorder so I'm sure LSX will be supporting it down the line also.

At $80 (instead of $800), this looks very interesting especially for a combined hard / soft solution.

Nice! I'm looking forward to this. I wonder what the approach would be...

I got one and the first results are really satisfying.

I'm using Processing to take data from the Leap Motion controller and converting them to OSC signals, sending them to LSX.

I do the programming in Processing myself, and there are many things to improve... I need to figure out a way to recognise a "grab" gesture, since that isn't part of the default library. It can recognise swipe, circle, press and tap gestures however.

Here is an example of a 2D drawing setup: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4zII8muGzug
The LSX show is a modification of a show DrLava made.

Hey guys I had a leap motion quite some months ago now (a developer kit). (since like 14 february)

While the whole thing is slightly different now from what the devkit offered the thing is still quite the same *with the exception of it being able to do a slightly bigger angle now*.

I did make a midi to laser gesture controll application for lasers and while it was cool and it picked up my hands motion in low lighting conditions I still didn't find it comfortable and advanced enough to use.
The leap motion is very quick in reading out motion with good precision and with no delay but it's still just not good enough imho.
Squeezing your hands to fists can also mess up the whole reading really briefly if I recall.

The original code examples weren't too nice to work with so my code as a result wasn't too nice either.
However I believe the code examples on gesture controll *especially with 2 hands* has possibly gotten better (I can't confirm as I'll have to check that in a moment on the dev portal)
I could give it "another" shot.

Nice job cmb, it has been quite a bit of fun watching you progress with this. I know the other uses you have used this for will provide lots of fun.

Laser (the acronym derived from Light Amplification by Stimulated Emissions of Radiation) is a spectacular manifestation of this process. It is a source which emits a kind of light of unrivaled purity and intensity not found in any of the previously known sources of radiation. - Lasers & Non-Linear Optics, B.B. Laud.

This is very cool, been eyeing the device for some time, I just don't think I'd have the skills to get it to do what I want. If you ever get to to the point of selling what ya are doing let me know. The 3d object control was sweet, Can that control any type frame, say just a fan of beams ? Any possibility of having it blank when your hand wasn't in range of the leap?
