Well, we're sort of discussing optically pumped as well as direct-injection .. veering of course a bit as is the norm here ..

Can you imagine... a full white laser projector using OPSLs for all the major lines in roygbiv! imagine the color pallete! I think the dichros would be more than the OPSLs at that point!

Brightness of Wavelength against 555nm human eye peak wavelength

    440nm 3.8%
    445nm 4.2%
    450nm 4.7%
    455nm 5.2%
    460nm 6.0%
    465nm 7.4%

    460nm is approx 30% brighter/watt

632nm is Red by itself, next to 650nm it is orange. White is White til you put it next to White then it is blue or yellow. It is all subjective, what is important is lumens/watt that the audience can see. As a laser junky the deep violets, and pure reds, are much more important to me as I will stare at it for hours and days and weeks... where as the money maker is how bright that beam looks so I can afford to buy the chroma correct diodes for my home system

    Default Laser Diodes

I have some of the Nichia "Aqua" laser diodes. They are 470nm, 475 and 476nm
20 mW. The interesting thing about these is the 100mW version has a built in zener diode for protection.
