There are a few nice features.

eg. Text layering is very good - the ability to layer one graphic over another eg text over a shape, and change the order if you require with a few clicks, and have the graphic or text which is on top, obscure the one behind in all the right parts eg like this:

You'll notice how the animated moving girl obscures the "OPEN" sign in all the right places - what you get is a real world object order rather than 2 intermingled graphics and if you send the girl backwards in the layer order, you'll find the sign obscures her in all the right places.

This is actually a Phoenix projection taken off Youtube. Very clever stuff.

I imagine there will be features going in both directions.

eg Phoenix uses a "Brightness" control for safety rather than BAM's. So I imagine something like that technology might get shared.

However, we'll have to wait and see. Who knows what Pangolin have planned.

...Haters? or.. customers, that aren't always-amenable to 'eating the wafer' / having it be the 'Pango-way or the hiway'? That's ok to feel that-way - that, we want what we want, and to work the way we want it - isn't it? ie:, here's an example of a 'win-win-win', when the 'voices' were absorbed-properly: http://www.salon.com/2012/12/13/goog...iphone_5_maps/

How does this 'relate to the thread-topic'? As you go, eating what you see-fit along the way, please take a pause to - reeeealy - analyze what the 'haters' are telling you.. Someone, sometime, just-may have some good-points / input / food for thought - in consideration of.. the industry... I mean, you (effectively) 'ask us' to accept your needing to making decisions predjudiced (primarily) in Pangolin's-favor; likewise, please do-accept us, if we tend to be predjudice towards our User-experience / performance - as we find it going for us, in the field..... ie: the "..but we have the award-winningest user-base"-answer is little comfort, when users find certain core-aspects of a product cumbersome..

..So, when our preferences / 'feedback' do not always 'align' with what may-be (financially / business-growth-wise) 'best for Pangolandia' - please endeavor to 'see a little deeper', rather than just binning the non-aligning-feedback as 'haterade'?

..ie: Undoubtedly, there are many Phoenix users, that are, indeed, 'biting their nails' over their investments in hardware, right now, vs 'popping champagne-corks'... Will 'easylases' (or whatever they are..) be 'traded-in' for FB3s / 4s? And if not (and people are not rejoicing..) ..does that make them 'haters'? Again, guess time will tell..

That-all barfed, sincerely looking-forward to swimming into the deep-end of Beyond... when I have time sometime in 2015..

    Haters.

Within this thread there have been two people who posted who are not necessarily Pangolin customers, and who constantly make non-qualified statements just to take pot-shots at Pangolin or what I say. Those Jon, are haters. But that's okay, because one thing I've learned is that having a few haters is not so bad. Look at how well Kim Kardashian or Donald Trump are doing, and they certainly have their share of haters (not customers).

But to your greater point about customers (and I would also say non-customers alike) having some legitimate concerns and criticisms, sure, I can agree with this. No question. Chad brought up some legitimate points and expressed concerns that I am sure others are feeling. Even though he clearly stated that he is not a customer, I respect Chad's points and his position, as well as anyone else who wants to make a legitimate point.

Also, I will fully admit that Pangolin, just like probably every other company in the world, earns criticism in some cases. No question about it, and we learn from these experiences.

In fact, someone on PL wrote to me privately with a legitimate criticism -- actually something I didn't even know was going on, and now that I know about it we're going to work to make it right.

Anyway Jon, sure, everyone can have their own opinion, and we value the feedback. What we don't value very highly is non-qualified remarks for purposes that are only self-serving. But most often (and exampled in this thread too) other Photon Lexicon members will chime in and let such people know that we all see right through them.

Regarding BEYOND, it's ready when you are and even Boris (president of Bocatec and developer of Phoenix) said tonight that he'll be using it in some upcoming shows because of the integral multimedia capability it has. Others stated the same after seeing our demo and training session last night. And of course we have a variety of customers who are using it every day. Check out our Facebook page which is full of people posting themselves about what they're doing with it and how it is helping them.

Anyway Jon, I'd love to see what you can do with it and where you can take it too! I'd also love to hear your criticisms about it, so we can make any adjustments needed (or even show you how to make your own adjustments, since it has a full C-language-like engine built in which allows you to really customize it to your own needs).

When you say "ported to lds" do you mean "brought into the Pangolin family, and made available as Lasershow Designer Secure frames"? I only ask for clarification because there is another software platform called "LDS"...

If your question was about the former, then I'd say yes but indirectly, because we'll add loader code that will allow the frames and such from each platform to be used on the other platform.

Hehe well if you come to Frankfurt you'll see them in operation! We've got them running in our booth and we're also delivering some to early adopters for integration into their projectors.

I was talking about Lasershow Designer Secure. Thanks for the response.

It's typically not good for there to be too many companies doing similar things in different ways. It tends to dilute the market and makes it harder for all parties to get much traction. There will always be competing people/companies popping up with good ideas and either that will make it or they won't. The good ones either become great or get bought by the larger companies. That's just how it works. I don't see how anyone can accuse either Pangolin or Phoenix of doing something "bad" here unless you were emotionally invested into Phoenix. Business wise, it makes perfect sense to me. Otherwise, it makes no difference to me since I neither use Pangolin nor Phoenix products. I can't see it affecting what I do with Spaghetti in any shape or form. Speaking of which, I am nearing completion of Spaghetti 3.0 which, over the past year, has been a complete rewrite from .NET to C++. You may or may not have noticed little movement in Spaghetti updates... that's because the old .NET version died a year ago and I haven't been providing updates for it. But, I have been working on the new version steadily since then. So, it will still be awhile but stay tuned... PS I started a new job making 3D games this week. woo hoo!
