    Default Projector as embedded system

    Hey everyone,

I just finished up finals, and I'm looking for a good summer project.

In short, I'd like to build a small diode - based RGB projector for the purpose of looping frames continuously, and independent of a PC. 100% duty cycle.

What I would like to do most, is display a string of text with a short message, or display something like atomic time - maybe with digits or with a projected clock face. It would be nice to just "plug in" a message, or a function and just let it run with nothing but power from the wall.

Where should I start to do this?

Will it come in the form of running LSX on several raspberry pis? Or are there methods to loop frames for as long as I want?

I've got C and assembly down, on embedded systems applications as well. But kind of hardware can do this?

Thanks for your help, all of it is appreciated!

    Tyler

It only takes one Raspberry Pi to play a wave file.

It's also easy to write directly to a sound device in Linux.

you can play looped frames/shows directly from a microsd card in etherdream dac's. no need for a host computer.

suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.

RIYA micro will do it too, as a continuous loop. Mine is pretty good at it, and when you press the button on the back, it will go to the next loop on the micro SD card.

good point. yes, the riya does a fine job of it.

one potential advantage for using the etherdream is you can control the the loop and scanning speed/positions wirelessly via OSC.

    @Steve

I wouldn't mind seeing those links and info, too.
I'm watching this thread with a similar interest.
I had little to contribute, so I didn't bother making a post, earlier.
