One of the things that has kept me from diving into this hobby head first is the possibility that I won't be able to use any of my creations outside of my shop. While I don't intend to ever manufacture lasers for resale, having the option of using something I built as part of a light show is very appealing; I am a tinkerer by nature, and would rather build things than buy them.

actually NYS does not care about the projector(they leave that to the feds unless it looks unsafe ) in ny its all about the lasers inside the projector
i guess it goes back to the times when the laws were written back then lasers were very interchangeable in the ion days and often were changed (even at a gig)
so the registration is on the laser source not the projector in NYS
it still needs to be legal on the fed level
