Mr. Planters... Yikes...Indium....yes....not Iridium...DUH...see pic !!
AND If the Tech from Boston Dynamics has Anyhing to do with robotic women...
Make sure there is a Emergency Stop button !!!! hahahaha
Thanx for the help !!

I think there are two regions that benefit from cooling. Going one way, you enclose a diode or a few away from moisture, use TEC cooling with water back up or good air flow for heat removal. The increased efficiency (like 30%) small blue shift (about 5nm) and greater margin of safety is easily gained with minimal risk. I am doing this and it works. Or you can aggressively cool the diodes to -75C and beyond primarily for the wavelength shift. In the case of the 638nm diodes, they move to around 608nm orange. This is truly a different color, you don't have to talk yourself into anything, but the power output is no higher than the baseline 400mA to 800mA so as to avoid counteracting the shift. So... if the LN2 runs out the color just shifts back (the focus gets a little screwed up as well) and no harm done. When I took the P73 to 2.5W @ -183C the facet probably was the component that blew out and so the power output can probably at most double with extreme cooling. Is there a way to limit ld current based on temperature? For instance, Planters was able to get about 4X the power when using dry ice, but I imagine once the dry ice is gone, the diode dies; would there be a way to avoid this?
Thanks Planters:-)
