Thanks planters!
Been in contact with JML about a PBS. No dice. This PBS looks really nice! http://www.lambda.cc/106.asp @ 142nm. The 1/2" one is a little cheaper. I must be aspie but playing games with my optics, doing weird angle twists is not for me. Seems like a lot of people are not happy with their PBS, so I asked in the GB area if a we should try a group buy. The GB idea will probably just fizzle out unfortunately. Does anybody have anything good/bad to say about the Lambda PBS. I'll probably be going with that one.

I agree that $140 bucks is a bit for the Edmond Optics anamorphic prisms. Considering that I would need two sets of them. What to do? ... what to do?

swamidog, I really like the concept of your # technique. With that single crossed diode setup, you must have a crazy nice beam! Was thinking about what what happen if you had used say a G-2 lens with cylindrical lenses (since there is no knife edging) and then crossed them |- => + ? Would the diameter of that beam be even smaller with less loss? I might have to try this with the 9mm when I am done with this project.

The “mad scientest” over at LPM called Lazeerer did extensive testing on the 9mm from Jorden. When I asked Lazeerer about the lens that came with the 9mm he said the following:

“ The lens that comes with the 9mm diodes are great lenses. However the word better is subjective. Yes the lens that comes with the 9mm diodes gives more output then the G lens (G-1) giving a slight increase in power. It also has a tighter thinner beam vs a G lens. The divergence is a bit worse though.
Some like this and some don't. I don't like this. “

Lazeerer described the coating to be “gel” like. I would think this lens is designed for just that diode. Lazeerer posted a video how to remove the lens without any chemicals also. Has anybody tried these lenses over here?

Point is I am going to have to try these 9mm diodes with that lens setup (not knife edged) thought a pair of cylinder lenses. One in the horizontal and one vertical plain, making a + Can't resist. Does this sound totally retarded?

All the best
